Good waves but you'll have to carry your sup on a pushbike or walk depending on where you stay

They do rent boards on Lord Howe. Contact them all and see who has a smaller wave board - one guy seemed to have a few surf-oriented boards. I was there last year - amazing place. I rented a bigger board to paddle around and explore, and a shorter board to surf out on the reef. The board was OK, and I had to paddle out to the reef. I would not classify it as a "srf trip" but it was fun for sure.

Good surf both sides of the Island, can walk and bike board around or hitch a lift, the west side of the Island has a fringing reef, 200m-1km paddle across the lagoon depending on which break you go to, the east side has shore based surfing, rarely working well but can get very good. Massive seasonal water temp difference 19 deg in winter up to 26-27 late summer and autumn. Big restrictions on luggage and board size for flights,(small plane) check first. Very limited surf equipment on the island, if you are committed definitely take your own.
