Aloha Everyone,

I am traveling to the Kirra Beach Area with my family for a few weeks this month + will be looking to rent a few high quality boards and paddles to rent during my stay. I currently ride a Starboard 8'5 Pro and my son rides the 7'7 Pro. I would love to find one OR both of these boards if available.

Does anyone have a good recommendation for a high-quality rental shop in the Kirra Beach area (if you know of one that carries Starboard that would be perfect)?

Also, what are some of the best SUP friendly breaks around Kirra Beach/ Surfers Paradise (I can hold my own in any conditions so, ability os not an issue)? Here in Maui most breaks are SUP friendly but, there are definitely those that you want to stay away from and I would prefer not to piss anyone off during my visit!!

i can only think of roar industries at currumbin that might be able to hire you a decent board.

probably the best place to have a near hassle free sup surf is currumbin alley or some quite beachies like bilinga tugun or palm beach.

don't surf snapper on a sup. you may get some wide ones at green mount if the waves suit, but don't go up the inside- you are bound to piss surfers off if you do

Also if the surf is small Kirra is a really nice place to sup and not crowded at all (when it's small) also the beachies right next to Kirra are very good for the sup.

'808sup' tells me he / she would have a fair idea of how to handle the line-up and anyone who lives in Hawaii would find the Goldy pretty tame....especially if that fight video the other day was any indication of the standard.

Ange & Jacko would help you out any which way I'd imagine. Greenline are up there too and I'd imagine between the two of them you'll be well sorted.

Enjoy your trip and if you want real waves and no crowds head down to Sydney, skip the skyline of the city and head south for an hour - then the real word opens up for SUP both big or small, you choose.

Aloha 808sup. Where abouts in Maui do you surf most? I was around Kihei earlier this year and had great fun and vibes. I often surf up on the Gold Coast when I can get away from Maroubra. As a visitor, I find the GC points pretty intense inside of our current school holiday periods, especially when it's pumping. However, the wide sets have brought me much joy at those times of year...

Re hiring, I think Roar at Currumbin is the go. Jodie & Woogie Marsh have been super helpful via Greenline. There is also board hire behind the Calypso Hotel at Coolangatta. But I'm not a GC local so am pretty vague apart from these suggestions.

When I was in Maui, the best board hire I found was Royal Hawaiian in Lahaina. Their boards & service put a smile on my face. Hope you find the same here in Oz!
