Hi all,
I know the topic of shortening a paddle has been covered quite a bit on here and DJ did a good how to which I've looked at. The thing is the guy who attached the handle to my Kialoa years back used some serious industrial strength adhesive. I'm now looking to shorten my shaft (never thought I'd want to do that). Boiling water, hear gun, hair dryer you name it, it's not moving. As such I've decided to buy a new handle .... so the long and the short anyone know where I can get one of these as seen in the image.



I'm on the Sunshine Coast but happy to buy online.

No need for a new handle, just cut the handle off and router out the shaft, go slow and steady and all will be good.

If you don't have any luck with your local shop getting one for you or even through Kialoa direct I have a spare second hand handle that you can have..

It's in good condition and I'm happy to stick it in a post pack to you..

Thanks DJ, I appreciate the offer mate.
Kialoa have replied to an email I sent them and will do one for $18.... which is cheaper than buying a dremel or a router etc. to get the old one off.
I'd feel a bit bad if you ever needed that spare down the track... but if I somehow stuff up the new one I might take you up on that offer.

Just remember the shaft is tappered so don't go too short. Good to some people enjoying the Kialoa's. I love mine.

Thanks John. I'll probably only take a five centimeters off for the moment. The taper must have seemed like a good idea back in the day ... I've noticed the new Kialoas don't bother with it anymore nor the oval shaft.
I've heard that the hot glue gun is the way to go for the future attachment and easier removal. I find it hard to imagine it being strong enough tbh though.

Considering you live in Qld, I wouldn't use hot glue if I was you...
5 min Epoxy does the trick and it can be easily heated up and taken off down the track

Spot on , just cut it off nice and close.
