Your turns look effortless and so smooth at any age. My friends and family thought I was craaaazy learning to surf at 50 (especially in the cold NE winter). I just tell em about you going to Portugal at 72 alone on a surf safari, and it helps my cause. My parents/elders can't even conceive of editing a video, let alone shooting videos of ones self on a surf board while surfing over sharks etc., so you are a beacon of aging with strength, courage and grace.

Keep those videos coming!

70 is the new 60 or less for active surfers and lots around.
I am 74.5 ( very average skills), after many years of various surfing activities started kitefoiling at 70, at 73.5 windwing plus now efoiling. Still do all 3 of these several times a week all year.
After 70 every .5 of a year counts.
A very long-term friend who I thought was my age (he always kept his age secret) sent me a photo of his birthday cake - he just turned 80, still active and surfs a mal.
We are a lucky lot.

Its more about what it does psychologically than physically .

Well your still having FUN and that's what counts ,,,crazy boat scene Creek ,made me laugh ..and some good scares and close calls ...lol.

SUPSEAN, same here. My first stand up was a sup surf at 50. Let's hope we are posting about our sup surfing in 20 years when we will be Rick's age.

Rick, I remember my first time to see you sup surfing. You were on whopper and helped me to gain the confidence to try. Took a while to get to a place where I could but all that time you were inspirational the whole time.

This week has been amazing in Florida.
Yes.... Florida!
It turned on with some real swell for a solid 5 days!! Film in editing right now!!!
SoloShot was iffy some good sessions, but I got enough for a fun vid.
(I may have finally figured it out... more on that later, if it stays on target!)

Very North swell, so mostly backside for me all week
Rode 4 different boards:
9'2 Wedge
9'6 Kanga
9'0 Flow V2
12' Pointbreak

I've met a few older gents in the water, some unfortunately like to sit on their boards in a huddle at the break moaning then maybe catch 1 wave i1n the whole session. I don't want become one of those. I'm aiming to be like one of my older gent heros whom I've encountered.
At mettams, low tide messy day, met gent with his longboard on beach looking at the water he comments" its a day for rolling around the reef." Which he did by riding every wave to the end and each time picking himself off the reef with a hugh smile. He was in his 70s and acting like a kid for his own enjoyment.
Another gent at cott, middle of winter,water so cold like Europe. Only 2 of us out. He was paddling for every wave to keep warm and had flask of tea on beach which he nip in every few waves to drink for a warm up. Best bit was he warned me to keep a distance as the tea was there to ensure he could constantly piss in his wetsuit to keep warm.
3rd hero not water related. 75yr old ex farm and motorcross racer. Arthritis had made his hands into claws. Sick of doing nothing he bought a new 125cc ktm motorcrosser as he figured his claws fitted around the bars. Had a reklus clutch so no need for clutch lever Use to see him at the track 2 a week living. Best bit was he reckon the constant pounding on his hands was softing the Arthritis and his hands were improving.
I've got another 25 yr and I'm aiming to be like one of my heroes.

Hey Creek, inspirational stuff, I love the way your still so passionate about the whole surfing supping scene. I know when I hit about mid 30s I kinda gave the surfing all away, you know work, family and generally tired of battling crowds and crap conditions when I did get half a chance to go out.

Then in my early mid 40s I got back into it a bit but could never get too excited about it....until I tried SUP. Wow, it was like being a stoked grommet all over again. And 7 or 8 years down the track it doesn't seem to have faded. So once I get over my current hurdle and back into it, I certainly hope to be sharing the stoke for (at least) the next 20 years

Keep it up please, it's gonna be the motivation I need to get back on the water.
