Here is the video from my first beach test of my camera robot (like a Soloshot). Still very much a work in progress. This is the second version I have built which uses the video feed from the camera to follow the subject.

That is really cool - is the red shirt part of the object detection?

Yep, it is using a very simple object detection method which looks for an object of a particular colour. I have actually have actually built another one (version 1) which works the same way as the Soloshot, i.e. using a "tag" with a GPS which transmits the subject position back to the camera unit. I have tested/used that to film my RC models and also me riding my electric skateboard. I havent been brave enough to test it on the SUP yet as I am not sure I have got the tag properly waterproofed. The video object detection method has a few advantages, apart from not needing the tag, there is a lot less setup as you don't have to wait for the GPS to get a lock and calibrate the postion/orientation of the camera unit.

Slick!
Yikes... do I have to start building my own robo cams now?

SoloShot setup takes forever sometimes, then doesn't work..... the red shirt method seems pretty quick and accurate!

That's really neat!

This is awesome. Well done. I had a go at building a GPS one from Arduino parts but the code is very complicated, the GPS not very accurate and the radio signal not very strong. There is a huge market for somebody who can get this to work simply, accurately and consistently (unlike Soloshot).
