Hi everyone,
My family adjustable paddle has not been used since last summer and as a result, I cannot with all my strength loosen it to adjust it, it obviously has a bit of sand in it or similar.

Any suggestions would be welcomed, thanks, brute strength is not working!

detergent and warm water ?

I think Foamballer is on the right track. Most of the time things like this seize up due to salt water drying on them and leaving behind salt crystals which jamb the workings. I have a problem from time to time with the zippers on my paddle bags.
Soap and hoot water left to seep into it then some of DJ's elbow grease I reckon.

If you have a pool put it in there for a day or so this may work wd40 may make the paddle a bit slippery

one person needed to hold the fixed shaft just next to the collar, and another to unscrew (make sure the direction is checked) the lock ring

+1 for warm/hot water (not boiling) and maybe some mild detergent to help it along.
