You can probably rent SUP's at Surf and Sea in Haleiwa town.

I know the Naish shop in Kailua has a range of SUPs for hire at reasonable prices-ask for Carol or Randy.

You'll land in Honolulu....

No harm in ringing ahead. Hawaii is only a few hours ahead (but a day behind). In case you don't know, the North Shore is only just over an hour away from Honolulu. You will get board / SUP board hire options in Waikiki and Honolulu also. Just use Google, and ring ahead and ask. They all speak English / American !!!

But at this time of year, South Shore Options will also be plentiful !! Keep your options open. North Shore might be flat, but you could luck into a swell !!! Good luck !

Hawaii is great at all times.... get down to Duke's Bar & Grill in Waikiki and have a Mai Tai for me !!! Plus a Hula Pie !!

Definitely Surf and Sea at Haliewa, but I only saw bigger boards and they were pricey to hire. I think the surfshop next door to shark cove grill hires them also but I'm not 100% on that one. http://www.alohapaddlesurf.com/ had some of the best rates and range of boards on the southshore and they are usually at EWA beach Alamoana most days.

Others on the southshore.

There's a good little place in Waikiki, on the corner of Koa Ave & Uluniu Ave, down stairs from the La Cucaracha Mexican Bar. It's 1 block back from the beach.

They do board hire. You pay for a whole week, and reserve a board, or try different boards. They had SUP's, and they probably have more now.

Man, Steet View is crystal clear here.... you'd be able to see the hire rates in the window, if Google hadn't have smudged the info out !

Here's a street view screen grab. It's in the sunken forecourt. You just leave your board at their place when you are not surfing!

I hired surfboards for my boy from there, very convenient and good prices.

Yes, extremely convenient. You can stay in a nice hotel, without worrying about carrying your board through the lobby, and some home stuffing it into a lift !!! Or having the guys take the roof out of the Good Lift for your visit !!

1 block back from The Duke (Bronze Statue). Plenty of reefs you can paddle to from there.

This place actually has good quality boards too. The beach board hire places have 'crappy' boards, generally.

Crazy Canuk, are you in Waikiki ???

Yes, this little place I pictured had SUP's. I would assume they have more now, not less.... Give them a try.

Koa Board sports is the one around the corner from the one pictured. They sell SUP because I was there oogling them through the window 5 months ago :-)

The place pictured is about half a block towards the zoo (east).
If you use google earth and stand in the middle of corner Koa Ave and Uluniu Ave and use streetview you can see both shops from there. Koa Board Sports is the one with the boards on the side over three stories high...

Found Moku - you have to get in early (ie when they open at 6:30) to get the good boards. I didn't see any SUP's when I dropped by this afternoon. And parking around that area is $2 for 2 hours at a meter (2 hour max) and the parking garages are "OK" if you get in for the early bird all day parking.

Koa does have SUP's for sale but they don't rent them.

Ran out of patience and just grabbed a 12' soft top laird from the beach today (haven't surfed for a week and a half and going a bit crazy) - I don't advise it they turn like a semi trailer with a bus tied to them....

There's a post on this from a couple months ago where some places out side of Waikiki were recomend it if your geting a hire care bring a set of the "strap on roof racks" on the chance of being able to find better boards also so you can get them around.

If you can I'd recomend bringing your own paddle the one I used today was cut for someone about 4' tall.

Surfed Pops today was OK nothing flash but was fun.

FYI boards rentals off the beach around 1-3 blocks back are 2/3rds the price. generally all you can find on the beach are soft tops and NSP's

Just back back from 9 days in Waikiki - rented a SUP from MOKU for $150 for 9 days. They seemed to have a sliding scale with day 1 being much more expensive than days 8 and 9. BTW thanks for the post about MOKU Simondo.

When I hired the 10 foot, they only had one other SUP (a 12 6). It did not sound like they had any others ...

The board I hired was 10' x 29 1/2 x 4 1/2. Not sure what make it was as it had no manufacturers name anywhere but it worked well in the waves off Waikiki (for a newbie). I'm sure that the more experienced SUPers on the forum would be more discerning.

I don't know if I have any photos of it but for those with more experience, perhaps you can pick the brand. It had a square tail and a rounded nose and was light blue on the bottom with the blue wrapping around the rails and a white deck. The deck pad was a blue/white camouflage affair.

I have a business card from MOKU but haven't found it yet during the unpacking. Once I do, I will post all the contact details on it.

Back from Hawaii, Spent 10 nights in a beach house up on the Nth shore just near Waimea, the Surf and Sea shop at Haleiwa hire boards and happy to help out. They have a nice 14ft Joe Bark hanging from the roof inside. Great surf shop.
The surf shop across the road from Shark bay (500m from Waimea) also have a couple of 11ft SUP boards for hire, only $30 for a half day.

Paddling the Nth shore is awsome as long as you dont mind all the sea turtles and Dolphins mixing it with you. ( its too good and I am going back soon)

In Waikiki selection of boards is abundant on the beach but they are expensive, I did find that if you get to know a few people they become more flexible and a 2 hour hire turns into half a day at no extra cost. The Sheraton had the best boards and prices if you go that way.
I went to Moku and they had one SUP. They would do a sliding scale of hire for the 10 days I was on the nth shore at $160 for the whole time which in the scope of it was cheap. But as I said only one board.
