Anyone else have gruelling paddles like this?

Our west coast is frequently messy, add to that it usually doesn't get under 3ft in size and when it's bigger and messy.. good luck getting out. Frustration is an under statement!

3 days earlier when it was a touch smaller I managed to paddle out back without even getting wet. On the day this pic was taken, it was 5-7ft and took 32minutes of hell before finally finding a small break and getting out back (and being washed from the far left to half way down the beach).
Got one wave in and called it day!

This was the other day day when it was 2-3ft. Pretty stoked I made it out and even caught a wave without getting wet after about 4ft upwards it starts getting to be a bloody long and tiresome paddle! Spesh when it gets messy

I feel your pain. Give me smaller good quality waves any day rather than a **** fight to get out the back just to get one.
Not sure about your location. But in mine I stay away from getting out from beaches & look at getting out to a break via a lake entrance, harbour or a rip beside a rock formation like an island or the rocks at ends of beaches. The extra long paddle is worth it.
