Quads are great for fast down the line, if a bit skatey put a nubster in the centre box. I have the Quobba fins and agree with Colas, they're great. The AM(Al Merrick}, fins are good too.

Hey OG I'm running FCS Reactor quads -large fronts medium rears in my new 8'3 surf plus pro and having tons of fun. About to embark on a surf trip so gunna be playing around a lot with fins including quobbas Colas. I only surf beachies so to be able to experiment on reefs and points with time and space will be such a luxury-scientific research of course. Letya know my thoughts as our surf has been so crap that I still haven't fully nutted out this board yet.
BTW Piros I'm wondering if you've looked at the JP Surf plus pro by Werner Gnigler;

Its seems similar to your older 8'6 Pro but with more volume up front-more user friendly perhaps-intermediate focus. I've defs got issues with catching the front rail but I reckon I'll be able to work through that on this surf trip. Love to hear your thoughts and suggestions on it pls. BTW impressive footage of Keahi as per usual its a pity dont see more of his surfing

I switched to foiling 8 or 9 years ago and haven't supped surfed since but that 8-3 pro is 30.5" wide you will never get the performance of the older 8-6 pros they were only 27.5 from memory . Re fin advice I'd go with Colas recommendations, I've been out of the Sup game for too long . If you want to see more of Keahi , Geoff Breen and Jackson Close all ripping on the JP's this is my movie " Living The Stoke 2 Fiji "

Geez Rob that was fantastic I was transfixed for the whole movie and its got me frothing for my surf trip to the Ments (4 more sleeps but whose counting?). Really professional thanks for that, its a bummer you've moved on from sup surfing. My plan is to advance to the pro model and this is a great pathway for me and a big reason I went 8'3" was i could fit it and my prone midlength into a unifiber double travel bag-virgin run this trip.
I'm defs going to play around with fin configurations and enjoy the rides and research of all yours, Colas and Stamps suggestions-just cos I'll be surfing long clean waves instead of east coast oz summer rubbish sans cyclones

I ride the surf pro 7'6 x 27 & 8'1 x 28 as my regular boards.

for me, they perform best as quads. I run large front and medium rear quobbas. The zero toe and cant JP boxes deliver speed and acceleration, and the quobbas accentuate this. I will always take having to wash speed off over having to generate it! Although the quad setup needs more persuasion to turn on rail or tail than thruster, the extra hold on the wave face more than makes up for it in my opinion. I also find the tail slips as a thruster in anything steep or when leaning into a strong bottom turn.

I think the mast base and optional centre fin position have been standard on the JPs for a long time.

8'1 is 103 litres, the 7'6 is 92 litres

I've got 8'6 & 8'10 jp surfs. I've tried the 8'6 as thruster, tri, quad & keel twins with a nubster l. I always go back to a set of b5 tri fins. Gives me enough hold & looseness in the tale for my liking
