Lots online about broken shafts but I couldn't find anything like this. Fanatic Carbon 35. Few years old, 2 splits going 3-5cm down from the keyhole under the adjuster collar appeared on Saturday.

Choices:
1. wrap the area with glass, maybe make it fixed length by epoxying the top half in as reinforcement, keep it as a spare
2. cut the shaft 10cm shorter and give it to the kids
3. replace the shaft (enhanced composites any good? enhancedcomposites.com.au/shop/filament-wound-carbon-fibre-tube-paddle-shaft-26-4mm-x-24mm-x-1150mm-hybrid/?attribute_yarn=Hybrid+(Fibreglass+%2F+Carbon)&attribute_length=1150 )

This seems like a 'design feature' caused by the adjuster collar compressing the tube vs my usual trick of running over things or breaking them properly on the water.

I'm tempted to try wrapping it first, but looking to learn from others' experience here - I'm guessing it flexes a lot, will it fail quickly and be a waste of time and resin? Better ideas?

If it's adjustable, how much total length will you lose by taking 100mm off?
Obviously would need to get the adjuster off in one piece (some heat?), or replace the collar entirely.
But if you like the paddle, repairing it would seem like a way forward?

Unless you're after an excuse for a new paddle, in which case, that one is junk.

Max adjustment 220cm, I use it at 215cm, so taking 10cm off means it goes to the kids,. That would be ok but I'd really like to keep it as a spare. I'll try wrapping it in glass and keeping it adjustable, if that doesn't work will cut or put a new shaft on it. Anyone tried the Enhanced Composites filament wound shafts?

Actually, looking it it some more, I reckon I'll just try a bit of JB Weld and binding it with kite line before getting too carried away.
