Hi guys, we currently have an Atlantas Halo 10ft that my husband and I share. Looking to get another board. The Halo has been perfect for our use so assumed we would just get another - but I'm seeing a lot of hype on here about the evoke carbon? I actually prefer the look of the evoke bamboo - can anyone tell me the difference?

Also I'm about 174 cm, 55kgs ... so probably could go a shorter board however we like to be able to have our young girls on the front sometimes for a paddle so I really like it to be stable so unsure how much stability would be compromised on a shorter board?

Thanks for your help!

In theory the carbon will be lighter and a bit tougher for paddle hits etc.

There's not much in it really... buy what you like the look of

The carbon evoke I have is tough. The other good thing about the carbon is that the finish makes it difficult to detect any scratches or scuff marks.
The deck pad looks clean after about a dozen uses.
carbon 7'11 in 8-8.3 kg. The 9'2 I inderstand is about 9. Still a good weight

I've had the Evoke in carbon (10ft) for almost a year. At 55kgs you'll be sweet on a 9'2 or 10' but id suggest you may as
well make it easy and go the 10' because it still surfs quite well for a longer board. Carbon construction is great and i wouldn't even bother with rail tape cause these boards are tough as. I can't notice any major scuffs on the rails after a heap of surfs on it.

I had a bamboo evoke 7'11 and it was great. Weighed in at 9.5kgs with quad fins.

it was hard wearing and after a year looked like new.

my wife who is 60kgs and learning found it was easy to use.

loved the look.

its a shorter board so does tend to "row" side to side more, so takes a bit more effort to paddle a straight line.

I just put a larger centre fin to help.

go with the look, I don't think there is a big enough difference to the carbon in weight.

also get the shoulder strap, much easier for your wife to carry to the beach, a good $30 investment.
