Spent most of this morning watching the Bells webcast and got totally amped
Hit the beach expecting the swell to have kicked and a short board session being the order of the day.
Somewhat disappointed to find the swell just not getting in...opted for a quick session on the SUP before the crowds got too thick.
Videoing by my young bloke who was dragged off the Playstation long enough to trade one screen for another...music seemed appropriate given the amount of cash on display in the carpark and the water.
Apologies in advance for the quality of the vid and the surfing...both camera and subject are getting old and rusty
Turn it up...enjoy
Cheers

Nice work! (What are you riding?)

We sure had the crowds and the car park action down our way...

Cheers guys
The board is a custom Simon Forward, 4D Surf Design, Cuttlefish model...its 7.4 by 30 by 110 litres...best SUP I've owned by a long shot.
This wave barely breaks at this size...a SUP or super heavy log really the only way to go...so not suprising that by the time I left there would have been about 150 muppets on shortboards floating around looking at one another. Had another look at about three yesterday arvo and it was a carpet of people from the beach to the peak...sheesh!!
Love Wreckless...trying to figure a way of working 'I'd go the whole wide world' into a surf clip...pretty hard unless youre a spotty faced angst ridden seventeen year old but I'll give it my best shot.
The swell today is next level...freakin huge...short board all the way unless it so big it washes out...in that case I'll be chasing SUP waves way down inside the bay!!
Happy Easter all...get out there

Good to see you posting again. Great advertisement for 4D, but you are one of the best. I presume you've been short boarding heaps. Hope the knee's holding up well. Brilliant stuff!! The secret to getting your young'un off the computer would be appreciated. Going out in the dark at Roadys, well over the ton by 9.00 am with their usual knowledge of etiquette = (3 to each wave with most in poo stance for 100 metres). Better than 'friggin in the riggin' but, and they don't like surfing over the rocks on the inside . 9'5"4D for sure next time for my big fat guts. Happy Easter Egg .

PS "GO WILKO"!!!!! he's Channeling WL and Col Smith with a touch of Occy.

Howdy Leroy
Good to hear from you and good to hear your still getting wet
Have indeed been short boarding heaps of late...probably 80 / 20 in favor of the shorty...which makes it even more suprising that the knee is holding up...kinda feels like rolling the dice every time you hit the lip...ah well, must be payback for all that clean and virtuous living I did as a young bloke!!
The secret to getting the youngsters off the Playstation is...bribery...flat out end of story.
Give me a bell next time your down this way and we'll surf...not many banks at the mo but I reckon we can do better than Roady...that place is the natural habitat of really angry chicks on longboards and bearded, man bun wearing barristas on super heavy volane glassed logs with minimal clue and no leg rope...you wanna be decapitated...Roadys the spot.
Faaarkin Wilko is a freak...guy surfs the way I do in my most vivid of geriatric dreams...smooth as catsh.t and way beyond vertical.
Having said that...i watched a heat yesterday where that Wiggoly cat from Brazil laid down some of the biggest backhand hacks I've ever seen...as the commentator said...spray from his first gouge was still coming down when he was smashing the lip on the second...and all done on a super meaty overhead onshore Bells Beast.
Onshore again today and the swell has dropped considerably...still enough for a splash this arvo and on the bright side...its Easter Monday...sure beats working!
Stay loose stay frosty
Cheers

I knew that was a cuttlefish model from the first wave!

They draw beautiful lines.
