Here is a video from a downwinder we did over the weekend. It wintertime here but the temperatures are still reasonable. The forecast was for great conditions but in reality ere pretty mediocre, lots of cross chop and wind not as strong as expected.
We had a little challenge getting to the spot as well

Actually, we did have a lot of vind in Denmark this weekend, but it arrived very late sunday (up to 46 m/s in gusts).
The waves At the northern shore of Zealand (north of Copenhagen) was much above their usual standard today (still not very good).

Nice video guys. That looks like a lot of open water, and no land in the video. :)

The board we were riding were both SIC 14 foot v2´s ( 2015 edition)
The windspeed was very up and down but pretty far from the expected 30-40 knots, I would say that in the clips its probably more like 20 knots.
The condition on the danish westcoat were pretty tricky with waves pushing to the left and constantly having to bear right
But this weekend looks like better conditions

The v2 is a great board, super easy to use, very stable, I think I could go a little narrower but for not falling in in these super choppy conditions its perfect.
I paddled the board a lot and it actually goes ok in flatwater as well

Have you ever tried the V2 with the A.S.S. steering? I just got one myself. I love the board. The steering is super fun in smaller conditions and inland lakes. Hopefully I'll get a chance to get on Lake Michigan and get a down-breezer in. I've had it out in 3'-5' footers and had a great time on it. But it was a dead downwind run, so steering wasn't used much.

What a weekend. Friday : The storm Helga passed with with windspeeds around 60 knots, Friday 40-50 knots

Just me and a buddy excav8ter . I have tried the bullet 17' with the steering but not the 14'. I would like to try the new FAST steering when it comes out in the spring.

That's awesome Niels. Sharing all the open water experience with a good friend is priceless. Catching glides, side by side? Or do you secretly "race" each other?

I i just bought a 14 V2 with the A.S.S system. I want the new F.A.S.T system, but i am going to wait until next summer sometime. I have been using an SIC F14 as my go to board for all conditions because of how versatile i feel it is. But i feel i am ready for a V2 now. Hopefully i can handle it when it gets "bigger". The biggest I've done with it has been 3'-5' and about 25-30mph winds.
The F.A.S.T system looks awesome, and a bit less intrusive on foot placement. At least for me. ...

Niels - You do know you can hop on a plane overnight and do the same in 25-30deg every day in Cape Town? We just got off the water with 25-34knots of wind and pure dwd bliss - tomorrow night is our weekly race and we'll be finishing 400m short as Big Bay is booked out for the red Bull King of the Air kite event - we should see another couple of knots tomorrow and some mad kitelooping and big runners - loving summer!

Looks very talented. I suspect he'd be happier on a SIC X PRO Lite though. I demoed the Falcon 12-6 and found it felt big and ponderous to me, and I'm a lot bigger than this lad.
