OK, so I have booked a trip to Kiritimati (Kiribati/Christmas Island).

I will be there January 4th until January 12th. Thats 8 days surfing with a handful of
blokes stretched over 24 different breaks. It's going to be rather fun! I'll make sure I
document the trip to share the experience.

Is that the same place that wasn't too keen on SUP's?
If so what is the vibe now?
PS pics please Brendan.
I am very envious.

Same spot but that was the surf camp, the other accom places don't seem to care which is the way it should be.
I will be taking the shortboard and SUP. It's about time I got back on the shorty and in waves like I hope to get it
will probably be the better choice. In saying that though, I bet I spend more time on the SUP. I'll get as many pix
and clips as I can but it's not for another 6 months damn it!

$2,460 for 8 days surfing, including everything except beer and what you buy duty free.
If you stay at Henry's it would workout to be around $2,250.

Way cheaper than the Maldives or Mentawais, I'm just hoping the surf is of equal quality.

Thanks for the info, I am seriously considering doing the same, I have looked at all the info and it does look like good value with a great set up

Now to discuss with the Minister for Finance....just brought flowers home today....timing is almost right...

Not sure if the sup will fit on the plane as it looks tiny, have the airline confirmed you can take it?

Yeah inclusive of flights. I'm flying Virgin domestic to Sydney then Air Pacific for all other flights.

One thing it didn't include was boat hire. Split between 6 should be about $20 to $25 per day.
We'd expect to take the boat maybe 5 times during the trip.

We're staying at Christmas Island Surf Camp

www.christmasislandsurf.com/

According to an email we got he is not against SUPs and said we can bring them but his concerns were that the likelyhood of a more serious injury was increased. In the wrong hands this is certainly the case and i think his concerns are warranted given the distance to any decent medical facilities (and from some of the SUP riders i've seen), but i guess the same injuries can happen on any other surf craft. At the end of the day if he wants our money he doesn't have much choice.

We'll let you all know how we go, we'll be the lab rats or test pilots (i prefer the later)
