Oops I accidentally clicked pay on the web site and due to Covid restrictions not allowing any paddling I have one of these coming in the mail.
My wife kept telling me I will hurt myself and if I fall I will break something so I said I won't fall off!!! No water close enough is no longer a problem I have bike tracks everywhere within a 5km zone and there are almost no cars on the roads so it should be safe?
Its 46 inches long and 14inches across and I reckon it will help with my Sup surfing and keep me fit in the upper body while I am stuck at home for the next 5 weeks.

Nice looking board I'm not sure about it helping your upper body but who cares it will be fun

Beware injuries to calf muscles etc - I overdid it when I first started, took ages to heal.

Get a landpaddle . Google it. Can you post where you got it and price. Also how it goes on semi gravel roads as I have a really good one that is too rough for sector 9 or z board.

Yep have one coming with the board, not sure if it's for gravel paths. Concrete Lines in Coolangatta had stock no one in Melbourne stocks these and others seemed to be selling out fast.

just remember your judo rolls and wear gloves .. I've lost lots of skin over the years ,didn't hurt then I bet it does now ,,now I'm a little bit older ..skateaway Dave .

Good plan! A longboard for skating around deserted hot mix and concrete and a floor to ceiling punch bag were the two things that kept me sane during NZs lockdown.

That's what I told my wife, I know how to fall with purpose and roll out of trouble!!! I plan on getting gloves and knee/elbow pads just in case!

Expecting the land paddle to work the shoulders.

I skate longboards. I think it helps one's style immensely. Keeping the feet closer together, and hitting those "hooked in" turns. Beautiful surfing flows, and that's exactly what these boards do.

Kneepads are good but jeans are a must, saves the knees, if your really accident prone the UK has reinforced ones for bmx dirt jumpers, sector 9 sells some gloves too. Thanks for the info.

Double up on take it easy on calves and if tight lay off for a bit - picked up my cruiser skatey after 15 odd years, lubed up the bearings a bit and off i went, day 1 OK, day 2 hurt to push (but I pushed on), day 3 can't walk and worried I've torn my achilles!!! Was taking it super easy re avoiding stacks, but still ended up in trouble just having a cruise. Old age....

Ouch, I will have a land paddle so no pushing off with my legs, just stand and manoeuvre.

Start off without the paddle, just to get a feel of riding and steering.
Take it very easy.
I'm 58, and didn't really skateboard when I was young - I had one, but not in to it.
When I got back in, I started off riding goofy because I had never done it before, and my right foot was the one that wanted to stay planted.
I was pushing with my left foot, bringing it up on to the board in goofy stance.
Going to really **** with my surfing. Which at the standard it is, can't take much ****ing with.
Only after advice from Chrispy next door I discovered I am "Mongo" - I skate natural but push with my front foot
Look for flats - avoid hills or slopes of any kind.
Stopping is much more of a problem than going.
The paddle introduces new challenges, not least swatting other people on the paths as you go by.
And the padddle is the only way I found to really slow down - the advice to drag your pushing foot would end up with me lying on the ground next to the path.
Planting and dragging the paddle much more effective.
Enjoy - it is great fun, even if school kids laugh at the fat old man on the giant skateboard.

Thanks Nozza, I'm turning 60 this year so am getting in as much as possible before it all falls apart, let's see the young kids laugh when they are 60 and can't do what we do.

Nice! Put your wetty on & run it through a few puddles in the rain. Should be able to do some nice cutbacks when wet & slippery. Who needs surf!?

What brand and price is this one.
Just done a check on smoothstar and surfskate, penny do one to.
These boards are designed to simulate surfing style and have the normal traditional skateboard truck with another feature that enable the axle to move also.
Anyone know what's the best one to get for us older guy suppers to have a new toy and practice our wave riding techniques.
Quality value for money. Etc.

Not sure about double turning trucks but these are 180mm wide and slope back from center for stability and allows for the larger wheels. Boards are Kahuna Creations but Hamboards also make similar but at a higher price. The board wa# $399 and the land paddle just under $200 delivered from Qld free.
Quality seems good and the paddle is much thicker than I had pictured and seems really strong which is obviously suited to being used on the road. This board apparently is best for land paddling according to the marketing blurb and best simulates surfing on a SUP but that will vary for each person.
I plan on testing her out very soon as long as the rain stays away this morning, this will be my hour of excercise today.

Perfect conditions today to test the new toy, great fun and yes my calf muscles are feeling it. Harder to land paddle than I thought with slippage on the road an interesting adjustment but the paddle was so handing for the first few turns while I got use to the ride.

Lovely design and the rocker is fun to ride on.

Sick looking deck. But dont ride thru anything wet or damp or green. If those wheels get anything near wet you will be on your arse in a jiffy.

Hey Dave have fun and keep up the caution - enjoy the cruising and avoid spills or injury - still struggling with my achilles but physio verdict is no major tear or anything, but will be a slow heal... if your calves are tight give it a rest and do some stretching. Prior to my injury I got a bit excited by the hamboards boards and purchased a set of their trucks online (that was basically all available, other real surf skate brands are pretty much sold out and most don't sell trucks separately) with a view to swapping onto my cruiser. Didn't do that but put them on to a spare semi cruiser deck of my sons, man they are responsive! I just had a quick muck around on them before doing the heel when i took the cruiser for another spin - and i was crapping myself the whole time!! but would be amazing on a longer deck (hamboards have 5 foot and even 6 6 decks!). I'd guess your trucks are cruiser trucks but not true surfskate trucks like the hamboards (or smoothstar) ones, they are a whole different kettle of fish!!!

I saw the big Hamboards at 12 boards yesterday from outside the shop, I was doing a click and collect on some wrist support. The trucks and wheels are huge at 200mm wide and wheels 95mm high, mine are 180 and 70mm and keep me closer to the ground so my centre of gravity is lower which according to the design brief makes for a smooth cruise carve. It definitely turns very quick if you want it to but can imagine what it would be like on a Hamboard set up as you are a lot higher off the ground.
I am thinking of a drop deck board if I ever get another one but they are a fair bit shorter and 10in or less whereas I prefer a bigger deck.

Interestingly enough I went on their website and they no longer sell the Thruster on its own only a complete board!

Lame..... seriously lame.
