I have been out of the water for a few weeks after wrenching my knee while paddlesurfing, requiring surgery. Bugger! Just about gone crazy watching from the beach and visiting SeaBreeze every hour looking for inspiration, so I grabbed the camera instead. Nothing flash but here are some pics of the waves on offer today in Christchurch New Zealand. Overhead on the biggersets, water temp 13 degrees and air temp about 6 degrees.

Hey boarder paul, I didn't realise you were from Christchurch. Actually I thought you were a made up login just to annoy the Aussies. Glad you have a board. I'm sure I will see you out there soon. I plan to be back in the water next week and usually surf 2 or 3 times a week. Sumner at the size it was today is very mellow and so not too bad for fairly novice riders and theres lots of room to avoid people. I'll look out for you on the Naish 9' 5.

Oh come on BP...you've actually bought a paddle (instead of just talking about it) & you.ve actually bought a board (instead of doing ditto) & can't rememba if you got the gath (or just talking about it)....& obviously you gotta get a better camera coz that's just ****e but get out there & do it.
Us kiwis have great hopes & expectations for you but obviously fall a little short of nominating you as our official seabreeze kiwi rep

Yeah a couple of the pics were off the New Brighton Pier and they were definitely a solid 4 ft (well overhead) but the SUP pics were at Sumner Beach and were a fat slow crumbly 3ft (head high)

Pics look great fellas ..ok some blurred but it looked heaps of fun down sumner today. I haven't been out for 2 weeks (or so) due to this damn man flu, i'm only half way through my antibiotics too. I do feel a little rejuvenated with all this talk of Boarders nearly getting his toes wet today....wonders will never cease.

Over the next couple of months the water temp can drop to around 8 degrees!! Here in the South.
Crowds are a bit less though for some reason

There were only 2 guys out when I took that second pic in the middle of the day. Hard to tell from the photo but it was a solid head high wave

Great pic's guys.
I wish there were waves like that when I was there this time last year.
Love Brighton ( stayed near the skate park) and Sumner areas for SUP and kiting.

Estuary was great to kite on but jeez the tide drops quick.
Thought one of the guys was taken the piss when he said I better hurry up and get on the water because I've only got a half an hour. Soon understood what they meant, water dissappears and ya left high and dry. Great spot though.

I can understand why your looking for gloves and booties, bloody hell it gets cold there.
