Yep have a good'n, I won't be making it I'm hitting the South coast for a few days for some waves, hopefully SUP in the morning and kite all arvo.
Hope to get more of a flatwater, race type board soon but for now I am still mainly drawn to the waves.

And what a difference from last year. From memory there were only 3 or 4 race boards last year. This year there were only a couple of surfboards out of 26 starters. Times this year are s lot quicker than last year also. I think all top 10 times this year would have won last years race and even though they said it was shorter this year it was still 5km.

Actually we were discussing when to start the paddle back ...... into a stiff headwind and against the current with hundreds of half pissed boaties in boats from 8 to 80 feet going in every direction. The return paddle was as hard as the race!

As my first race, it was an eye opener. The pace was FAST. My Garmin said we did exactly 5km and it took me just over 30 minutes. My moving average was 10km/hr with a max speed of 11.9 kph. My Average heart beat was 187 bpm for pretty much the whole race. Damn beeper kept on beeping the whole race saying my heart rate was too high. Stupid thing, what did it know [}:)]

I gave it everything and just couldn't close the 50 odd metre gap Mike, Kevin and Pete had on me at the end. Top 4 were very close and I can honestly say it was the hardest race I have ever done. Lots of fun though

I'm looking forward to seeing the race times when they eventually get posted. It was good meeting you all and racing with you. See you next race!

What do you mean 'as hard', the gentle paddle down to freo was a walk in the park, the paddle back was like a cross between frogger and rope jumping while riding a unicycle with the seat covered in peanut butter!!

Well summed up Darren. And as you said, "As my first race.............. it was the hardest race I've ever done"
Nice work guys, glad it went well.
Thats the first time my board has been at the front of the pack, unfortunately it didn't have me on it!

my first race, i thought the top 6 were all pretty close, noticed the current past marinaa was probly worth 1-2 kns, hardest thing ive ever done in my 38 yrs[sprinting on a psaddlle board for 5 kliks) fun i dont no about that coughed my ring up for 4hrs after %$#^&* the ciggis and the piss, 400klicks later and 6 pale alse later what pain see you at the doctor hope its nukin yus might be looking at the different end of a f=16.... i ow alot to the secound placed clubbie who allowed me to draft behind him the extra rocker of the f=16 allowed me to place the nose just behind him over the square tail of his board, ive found a use for clubbies, thanks to race organisers we dont get that up here in gero, wish we did well done galvo, kevin, pete ,darren and cam, im dreaming of a new race board tonight. cams sup luv sounds exciting yewwwww

Thats awesome. Shows the standards here are starting to rise and everyone is raising the bar and getting into proper race boards.
