How do people do this with a canopy on a 4wd? A quick search only revealed windsurfers talking about VW Transporters & VS Commodores, which doesn't help much.

I have heard about this flex thing that means something could break if I strap it to both canopy and cab racks.

On the road it's no problem - strap both front and back. If you're off road on a real twisty track, and you only have two racks then either just strap the front and let the back ride on a bit of foam, or if you happen to have two racks on the canopy, then obviously just strap those with a packer so that it doesn't touch anything on the cab... It has to a pretty twisted up old track to start flexing the chassis - in a hilux anyway

Low lying trees are what have nearly caught me a few times.

New car mr k!! You will require a step ladder or stilts. No use to you as my rack is through the cab onto the tray so no bendy bits.

Cheers foamer, sounds legit to me! Am rolling in a px ranger and installing racks, based on this will go with one on cab and two on canopy - 10'6" Naish fits perfectly lengthwise over cab and canopy with no overhang...

Hi There,

Have driven a D/C with canopy for years, and always carry gear on the roof.If you strap one end to the canopy (at the rear) and one on the cab (above front seats) you should be fine, unless you are on some serious terrain. Rocks, corrugations, dirt/sand tracks are no sweat!

Tip: dont strap at rear of cab, and front of canopy - hope this makes sense...

For sure lama! These days are starting to draw out so good time coming!
