The acknowledgement in that he crossed the line is good. The trying to justify his actions was not so smart.
This is racing, rubbing is racing, tracing paint is racing, its been that way for well over a hundred years in all forms of racing.
It will happen again, and most people who understand racing will have no problem with it.
If somebody takes an obvious swing at a competitor with a paddle, they will be DQ'ed, other than that, let them race.
