Where are the best spots to SUP surf in the Byron area?

Cheers

I was there for a week not long ago. Just hung around the shore break at the town end of Clarkes, but I don't need much to keep me amused. The Pass looked better waves but too busy for someone of my limited ability to get involved in.
Also a very unwelcome feeling there. This is a sign in the car park.....

Ignore the sign Nozza, there's more old clowns on longboards to out number SUP riders anyway.

Clarkes and Wategos are great, just surf with respect and you'll be fine.

Dont sup surf the Pass unless your good as in real good, just too many out on the point.
As Nossa said down towards the beach, less people more fun.

I have to agree with Macaha, don't SUPsurf the outside point at the Pass unless you are real good.
I surf the Pass regularly and find that there can be as many as three or so take off points.
Stay further in towards Clarkes, give respect and have fun.

Seemed to be 4 or 5 take offs at the Pass, but full of longboarders.
Some very good, impressive to watch.
Actually, lots of young girls very good longboarding skills (in my limited knowledge of them)
longboarding skills, not young girlls
Nose riding, cross stepping, all within 50 metres of the beach
I didn't need to mix with them, and at my skill levels should not have.
I had a private wave for 5 days, never felt the limiting factor was the wave rather than my ability.
And there was a couple of kilometres of empty beach past me

Don't know anything about it but Tallows seemed to be deserted and two minutes away.
Didn't go in as I would have been the only one out and the surf report spooked me.

"Be aware that multiple great White sightings in the Ballina Shire and Byron Shire over the past few days means there are quite a few big sharks around, check it out before you go. "

At least on a SUP you are not dangling your toes in!

Paddle out back, yell shark, and enjoy an empty lineup!

I was there end of sept and found it fine as long as you mind your manners. Mind you, there were a few sups here and there being a bit too hungry, but there were drop-ins galore and nobody taking it too seriously. The pass was ridiculously I crowded, more with dads pushing kids into waves, but I managed to snaffle one knee/waist-high wave from the rock at the pass down to the captain cook walkway, was about 450m on google earth.....haven't had burning legs like that for a while...you'll have fun.
