Looking to get a 3pc paddle for my 14' Starboard Allstar Airline. Looking to save some money, so very interested in the Lima Carbon UD 2022. I'm absolutely paralized on what blade size to get!

Debating between the Medium (83 in2 / 534 cm2) and Large (88 in2 / 567 cm2). At 182cm and 81kg I'm reasonbly in shape. I like to do long distance touring sessions (well, 12-15 miles if that is considered long enough). Worried that the large might be too much and cause muscle strain, but on the flip side maybe I can handle it fine and the medium will end up being too sluggish.

The closest shop with a test center is 3+ hour drive away, so I just don't think I can make that happen. Hoping to get some good advice on making the right purchase.

Hi mate I have a 1 piece Lima in the large size and I am a little bigger than you, at around 93kg and 188cm tall. I have been very happy with that size using on both flat water, with a Starboard 14x28 Waterline and in the surf on a couple of Naish boards too.

Haha, split down the middle! So, I bought both paddles just to compare them in the flesh, as I couldn't get to the shop. I can still ship one back if unused.

I took some pictures comparing to may current main paddle, a Red Paddle Co Carbon 100 (525mm?). Still no further in being absolute which size to go for (sigh). The Lima M looks small in comparison to the RPC, but technically has more surface area (534mm?). The Lima L looks much more comparable in size to the RPC, still slightly smaller in the width and much fatter in the neck (564mm?).

Goal is the same, would like to paddle more efficiently/easier, get more distance on either my 12'6 or 14' touring boards. Typical session is distance paddling (10-15km), fitness/recreational touring (like a hike at a steady pace).
