Just a shout out to anyone who was SUPing at Boxhead over the past few days
Easter Saturday was really good with just about 4 guys out on dawn , best lefts ive ever got kept walling up and going for ever
Yesterday had dropped but today was awesome 4 foot plus!
By 8 there was about 20 prone surfers compared with about 8 SUP,s
The vibe was great and everybody was hooting each other !
First time ive seen a shortboarder hoot at a SUP , it was magic out there
Can't stop smiling and best thing is i got a RDO tomorrow when hopefully everybody goes back to work

thats pretty much alot of what you get out there when ever it is remotely alright as the hordes flock, when the surf get bigger you tend to get alot of people that would not normally surf as they wouldn't be able to get out at there respective break, and the 50 boats, not really worth the hassle any more

I have been out there before (Just watching) when it has been about 10ft+. Definitely no SUPS and guys being towed in on jet ski's.
the break goes nuts when the swell, bank and wind are all aligned.

I normally only go out there when it is smallish as you get heaps of tough guy wannabe's out there, i am old enough and wise enough to let them fight each other.

Then please don't mention the bower, need to keep that spot under wraps , it's getting worse by the day out there. Saw one guy last week, paddling out past everyone after every wave to get the inside and to top it off ran over a 12 year old grom as he was paddling for a wave...not cool.
I was definately not hooting from my shortboard.

If 1 is the easiest/no crowds/beginner level and 10 the hardest/super crowded/very competent here's an idea - Crowd x Difficulty of wave divided by ability = Your Ability then you're good to go. If it's lower even better. If it is considerably higher maybe recalculate.

example - Location Pipeline - 10 x 10 \ 3 = 33.3 (sub-note any result rating over 10 times your ability level may result in hospitalization )

Off topic but just a thought haha.

I think that was me???? Nice kid. Didn't seem to mind. Got wedged into him by a few shortboarders blocking. Had a laugh with him on the way in.

Still, shows you there is always someone watching willing to start nasty little rumours??? No wonder I sit way out the back on the inside staring out to sea like an antisocial old bastard waiting for that once every half hour freak set. Keeps me away from all the garbage that crowds the inside section!

Oh, this Box Head place sounds like fun. Gotta get my big dinghy and the 15hp in action. See you all there!

why don't we just charter a huge boat and get 50 of us out there. Should be a great day and fun had by all. I wonder if we can arrange for one of those cappuccino boats to join us and keep us all refreshed?

As someone who lives up the road from Box Head may I make a suggestion that before anyone feels the need to post about their latest surf here they maybe think a little and invoke the "Postcard Rule" before pressing "enter".

So, If the spot you are surfing is NOT commonly sold as a tourist postcard then DON'T post it on here.

After all of these posts: Box Head is now a major NSW tourist destination!!! I hear they are now planning a high speed SUP only ferry from Palm Beach every 30 minutes.

I wish. Then again, even if I did it probably wouldn't be designed as a floating hotel like those big white caravans with a mast you constantly see. Happy to stick to my philosophy of, "No room for mutineers".

Regardless, coaxing someone with a filthy big catamaran that could get a couple of dozen of us on deck might not be that stressful!

Hi Guys
I wrote a post called Box Head in SUP
I didnt name the area or State but the Title gave it away
In this day of age of Coastalwatch and the internet i had a momentary lapse of judgment
In hindsight i shouldn't have named it in the title
Even though breaks and photos are regularly named on Seabreeze and Box has been mentioned before ,
my peers believe i was in the wrong and looking back i believe i was wrong
My apologies to everyone
I cant seem to contact the Admin to take it down but i think the post should be removed
Sorry once again

I always enjoy coming to this forum and contributing from time to time. But I am astounded at the red thumbs and criticism for Johnnyclash`s first post.

With about 28 surfers out at that break by 8am I think the locals already know! You think it is a secret break or something? It is well known and all over the net!
And so what if a few out-of-towners, happen to read that post, and happen to be coming to that area for a holiday or something. Mr google has already told them and has also told all the world!

I do not share your childish paranoia.
That this fellow felt the need to apologise for letting the cat out of the bag so to speak. What the?
That is not the spirit of the SUP community that I have come to know.
It is illogical and unnecessary and unkind.

There I`ve said it!

Yes Jungle Man, you have a point. Well said.

We should also agree that some here are living in their adolesense, tainted with old school surfing localism, malicious bastardisation, general narrow-mindedness, and sheer jealousy?

While I love the ocean, I am more than happy to admit that under these influences the sport of surfing has done nothing but cause me bother.

It makes me appreciate the odd magic session full of good vibes like the one posted. Unfortunately they can be the exception?
