Looking for some advice. I'm 5'10 and 66kg and am looking for my second board. First was a Naish glide 14' by 29", great board, heavy though and never fell off. Want s lighter and narrower board for bay fitness training. Is 24.5 too narrow or should I be looking at 26"? I'd be fine to move to s 12'6" given I'm not planning to race.

Just a thought, if you are not fussed about speed but you want something easier to manage/carry, maybe you should get an inflatable. You might find other places you could take it to. You can leave it inflated. My inflatable is pretty fast to paddle, but is nice and light.

I had a Glide and went down to a 27 wide and am doing good on that but at your size 25 would be a go I reckon.

Depends on the board, your own ability and the conditions you want to be able to paddle in. Best advice is to try as many boards as you can before making a decision.

At your size 14 x 24 and bigger should be no worries, just think about the water you mostly want to paddle in as that will really help with what kind of board you need.

Forget inflatable, great if traveling of if you have no room for a hard board but IMO they suck to paddle and suck most of the life out of what a good board should feel like!!

I wouldn't recommend a board as narrow as 24" wide unless you only paddle on glassy days on the bay. Demo first if you can.

? Are you sure!! this person is only 66kg and already been paddling so IMO a 24 wide could quite easily be a option.

At 66kg there is a chance they could ride even Narrower, all depends on the person ability but to just dismiss it is pretty much saying this person is a kook so don't bother.

As you DJ demo but IMO try a 24 wide and if it feels good go for it if you feel like it might be to much work then go a bit wider.

Unless you can latch onto a team rider, then demo'ing a 24" wide board in Victoria is easier said than done.

Dj have a point, maybe look into wider than 24 wide at this stage and then get the 24 or less as you improve and win a few races.
