Hi. I'm thinking about buying a secondhand Evoke Carbon SUP. It has a gash on the bottom. I'm wondering if I can repair it.

From what I've read the construction is EPS foam / carbon + PVC + 4oz deck / Carbon + 4oz bottom.

Are PVC and foam boards repairable?

Thanks - Doug

Definately.
If that's their info, it's the same as a windsurf board construction with the foam sandwich layer.
If on bottom you will be fine to just repair it like a surfboard though as its only the deck with PVC apparently.

If you need PVC foam - divinycell, herex, airex, corecell (which technically isn't PVC) will all do. If you're wanting to give it a bash for yourself and need 3mm corecell I can post u some as that's usually the stumbling block - people don't wanna but a square metre at $80 for a one time thing.....

Thanks Mark. I think it's just the skin that's torn. As a new seabreezer user I can't post URLs or photos - the Evoke SUP board is on Gumtree in Secret Harbour :-)

To repair the bottom of the board - what does a surfboard repair mean? Fibreglass? I would be looking to do it myself - all a bit cheap and cheerful as I'm very much a beginner.

That's not a gash on the bottom - that's two fin boxes needing replacement which is quite involved. At a minimum, router work, set in high density foam block, router again, set in box, glass over, fair and sand.

You could glass over it to seal but it will be not flat (ugly) and not able to use those boxes as they will only be waterproof but certainly not strong.
Have a look at boardlady.com for fin box repairs
