Hi all I am wanting to purchase a SUP for the family and being a windsurfer I know absolutely nothing about SUPs. It will be used by my wife and kids, 10 and 12 y/o girls on flat water. Should I get an inflatable or a hard one?. What is the difference between the cheap and expensive ones. I am looking at the 10'8 fanatic fly air, would this be suitable?

GO hardboard mob dog ..like windsurfers you get a nicer feeling board with the stiffness of a hardboard ,,I had a couple of pump ups ,they where yuk .plus you can class them if dinged .a few to mention .9.5 Naish mana ,10 sunova Eco ,160 litres and up is what you need .and 32 wide for easy use .
starboard have some good options too in the longboards and a nice price .SUP improves your balance on a windsurfer too ...you will love it .and your girls ,I brought my daughter one at 10 ..she is very good SUP er now at 17.

Good choices there Tardy,Naish Mana is a winner,maybe a bit more expensive but worth every penny.

I use a big 10-8 Red inflatable for this, I wouldn't use a hard board personally cause we're in rivers and lakes with rocks and my kids play on board on shore, plus we take the Red SUPs on planes a lot or did before Covid at least. The molded fins on the Red aren't ideal, but it's otherwise insanely durable and can go to higher PSI than other inflatables. If I was only in ocean I might get the 404 Floater my friend has, he prone paddles into waves with kid on nose, looks so fun

Starboard Whopper 10'x34"x174L in Lite-Tech. Will float the wife and the kids. Great price. Tough as. Just a thought.
