This picture of the logs is before the storm hit. I was out surfing on this morning but at a more protected beach. Chatting with a local surfer and learned that a little beach (middle beach) that I thought was never surfed is a good left for long boards in these conditions.
Hi
This is a cross post with surf zone but I though might be some interest for some winter pictures while you deal with the heat of summer! Hundred of trees down and power outage widespread. This is a picture of our road that leads to several of the beaches. Crazy but cars were driving under the trees! I did get out surfing in the aftermath of the storm but way too choppy for my ability and smaller board.
Hey Bob, That brings back memories. I lived south of you (near Seattle on Bainbridge Island) for six years, and in November 1990 (only a few weeks after we arrived) we had a huge storm and the whole island and most of the surrounding countryside looked like that. Somehow the fallen trees missed our house, but we had 30+ trees down in our street alone. Long story, but where I lived we did not have power or water for two weeks, and for a while it got so cold the toilet water froze! We lived right on the water - it was a great place!
supthecreek said.. Pretty nasty looking Bob! Having a dead-head hit you, while paddling out would ruin your day
I like how you put your 8'7 Creek on the roof, to protect the car from falling trees!
Yes nasty is a good description Creek.......worse than nasty for some.....a friend who was coming out to surf with me for a couple of days didn't make it out.......he lives on a boat on the Fraser river......the boat sank during the storm and its' aftermath....no one was on board at the time but he and his wife have lost their home. Very sad.
