Just got back from 2 weeks in Bali staying at jayakarta in legian.. Place was epic waves first week were huge I paddled put at Kuta reef but sat on the shoulder and watched the circus go round then surfed old mans at chungu but again it was big and closing out then it turned on for last few days.3 foot beachies out front perfect sup waves plenty of crew but got loads of waves once you turn and commit to a wave everyone stayed away.. I took my Naish 8"3 x32 loved it in the beachies but struggled I the big stuff looking at a sunova flow 8"7 at the moment for a big wave board.. Any way here is a vid of some waves last few days..

What's the vibe in Bali towards sup surfing? How was the internet where you stayed?

Vibe was cool at beaches out on Kuta reef was not so cool but it was fine the balos are great people. Like any where I just take my turn and also l let the crew know when set are coming and am pretty careful with my board when getting under waves. Internet was fine it's wifi everywhere for free you just have to log it constantly.. Highly recommend it the beaches pump from 2 to 4 foot high tide mainly but are surf able all tide on the right bank wind is offshore each morning till bout 11 then backs off again at night allowing 3 surfs a day so you get your skills diled in.

If you were staying on Bali for 6 months, what part of the island would you stay that has lots of uncrowded sup friendly surf and is CHEAP?

Prob around legian seyemunuk area it's still cheap and the beachies are great easy to get a un crowded bank . But depends what time of year during our summer the trade winds switch and are onshore at this area and are offshore on the other side nusa dua and sanua side there is great sup waves over there but it's more expensive over there.. Only one way to find out..

Mate we flew air Asia and was no problems at all just packed board in bag and went I traveled for 10 years with multiple snowboards so I'm pretty use to flying with oversize bags but the sup was no worries at all the kids on the other hand... I would have loved to have left them at home.

Thanks for the info. Do agree travelling with a board is easier than with kids.
