I was wondering if anybody has any experience with Hidden Valley Resort and SUP surfing in that area. It's at the very South of Bali, below Kuta. I called the perfect wave and it seems to be their go to preference for SUP surfers. I was wondering if anyone has been there, what the waves are like, crowded surf? etc. I'm also taking my girlfriend who doesn't sup/surf.
One thing I like the sound of is the surf guide and pick up and drop off at the airport with their van.
I haven't been on a surf or sup trip overseas before.

Thoughts? experiences, alternative suggestions?

Hidden Valley is 5 km's from the nearest beach, I cant see how it could possibly be the "go to preference" for any surf craft.

You are just heading into the full blown surf season over there now so I wouldn't recommend any SUP spots quite frankly, I prefer the off season on the Nusa Dua to Sanur side, there are several spots certainly more suitable for SUP over there as opposed to the Kuta area full season, also many of the breaks south of Hidden Valley cop plenty of large swell and again I would be very wary of SUP ing there from here on in until around November.

Others will disagree with me I'm sure, I have a low crowd tolerance level and my recommendation reflects that.

When are you planning to go and what is your ability level?

Maxeaus is right you are coming into the crazy period in Indo, especially around the Bukit area of Bali, the upside of this area is there is plenty to do for your non surfing partner. I surf a short board and sup, and the crowds around Kuta can be insane and there is a wide variety of ability on display out there ( from Russian tourists right up to the local Indo rippers ), never really supped out there always rode my short board so don't really know how a sup rider would be viewed out there, hopefully someone on this forum can let you know

I agree with maxeaus, I sometimes stay at a south coast resort and its exposure to swell is full on. Your ability would need to be good to sup surf the couple of known locations on the south coast at any time of the year. At our resort the wife and I use their sups to paddle inside the outer reef on flat water which is bumpy on high tide. the waves on the outer reef can look amazing, almost makable from the cliff top but down at ground level, well I've never seen anyone on it.


This is the best I'd seen, yes it looks good from 300 steps up. But mostly it's serious big close outs.

I'm glad I asked, this isn't what I'm after at all. I haven't really settled on a time of year I would go so I'm flexible in that area. I hadn't really worked out locations as they said their is a guide at the resort that makes recommendations on where to go.
I'm an intermediate SUP surfer. I'm comfortable SUP friendly 6 foot surf. Maybe Fiji would be better? I love the look of the Maldives, can I get away with a week away there for under 3 grand? Cheers.
