Getting back into SUP after an 8 year hiatus due to kids, work etc.
My last board was a PSH 10'6 WAA in 2010
At 6'2 and 125kg, I have been eying off a Fanatic secondhand 9'5 Allwave at 170 litres. Its awesome how much surfing SUP's for big units have progressed. I am a proficient surfer riding a 6'10 shorty, so I don't want to go too long and have to downsize.

My question is, will the 9'5 float me?

Any other big units on a 9'5 Allwave?

I don't think you'll have a problem at all.

As a fellow "larger gentlemen" (115kgs) i understand your concerns.

i've had 8-12 boards over 10 years and found that boards around 150litres are generally comfortable. Getting down to 135-145 litres generally is a little hard work on boards that are below 32" wide.

In saying that i just purchased a starboard 9' hypernut at 31.5 wide and 145l. Most stable board ive ever had. I'm still using my naish 9'1' x 32 which is a great board but the glide in the hypernut is unreal.

i suppose the more volume in the wider nose provides way more stability compared to previous boards i've had (naish9 x 32, fanatic prowave 9'2", PSH 9'11" and 10'6", C4 waterman 9' and JP fusion) which have had pulled in noses and in some cases pulled in tails.

I reckon you can go for a 9' all wave at 159L. or try and find an old naish mana 9'0 i reckon about the 160L

My wife keeps telling me instead of buying larger volume board why don't i just loose wait. Well what can I say, I'm a glutton.

Welcome back to the addiction!

I was 120 kg when I got my first 9'6 Allwave, and it was perfect for me... very stable and surfed well!
Being taller and heavier that I was at the time, I think that is right at a comfortable number for you.

and don't worry about downsizing later.... if you get a good deal on a used Allwave, it will hold it's value when you want to move on.
