My 2009 custom f16 at 20 knot plus winds this board comes into it own





My 2009/10 custom f18 this board is bulk fast in the flat the glide just blows your mind in ocean winds of 15 knots or less this is the board you want under your feet



My 2010 custom BULLET this is my favourite Downwind board I paddled it yesterday for the first time in 11 months and I enjoyed ever second of it

there's some dollars in that lot

i've got this itch for a bullet.
phil have you had a chance to try one of bullets being imported here?

Yep around $15,000
About $5,000 a board Bulk expensive, but if you wana play you have to pay. These are the best money can buy when it comes to Downwind boards IMO
I can't pick a fault with these SIC boards they do everything they suppose to do in the ocean stoked.

I haven't paddled a imported bullets I've not seen one only heard they are hear in Australia (I believe they are vacuum bagged . I don't like Vacuum Bagged Boards.
I get Mark Raaphorst too personally shape me my Downwind boards.

Would love a Bullit or a lighter version of the naish 17 footer (maybe 2012?)

Downwinder is right about the dosh, you got pay to play, but i want to keep my 3 JP windsurfing boards, 6 firewire surfboards and 2 PSH rippers.......

I've heard there is a new carbon layup (with more carbon) with the new 2012 17' Glide.. btw.. it will now be called the 17' Javelin.. So I'm guessing it will be slightly lighter.. IMO you don't want it too light or you will loose that glide that comes with momentum and it will be too flighty/flippy if you fall off it on a rough and windy day.

Don't agree with this at all about weight. My DC14 is full carbon and comes out at just under 10kg (including deck grip, rudder system and fixed fin box). I like the instant response you get from a lighter board. When you hit it you get a response right away. I also get more instant "lift" from wind than you would with a heavier board.

Hope so DJ, if they knock of 2 to 3kg, would amost be enough to convince me, I am not a top level racer, to be honest I couldnt notice the difference on the water, its walking a few hundred meters and puuting it on the roof everyday thats the main think for me. Love the shape of the Naish 17, sure the bullit looks like a similar board, maybe better, I dont know?

i've got a 14' and 12'6 coming. i had a naish 17, while they are on the heavy side, yesterdays condition would have been perfect for it.

scotty at greenline has got a nice secondhand one sitting in his shop. it's been there for a bit

i thought about it last night, even emailed mr naish(dj) about a couple of things i wanted to know.

i rolled up and asked scotty if i could pay it off- got the ok.

it wont be a board i use a lot, but when its on i'll be ready with one of the best bigtime dw boards around imo

it also has a rudder

there a few on the forsale section and i reckon they are a bargain for what you get

Vacuum Bagged Boards are hollow boards so they don't sit in the water like a styrofoam board does plus Vacuum Bagged boards are known to take in water you can go from a 13kg board to 40kg board in a matter of minutes the board will not sink but its like paddling a tank ( Help Me Please Mr Wizard )

Yes I like the orange, yellow, white, grey camouflage it gives Downwinder a kind of trade mark like Tom Carroll with the sash. The bright camouflage may look gay but the board stands out like dogs balls in the ocean.

My BULLET is a CUSTOM 17'6'' weighing in at 15.5kg

I got the f18 sprayed blue, grey camouflage just to be different as I have 2 boards sprayed already orange camo. But I have another order in already for when I go back to Maui in 2012 sprayed orange camo I'll be leaving that board in Maui. I spoke with Scot Trudon on Namotu Island Fiji Mark & Scot are working on a new prototype BULLET. Looking forward to seeing that board.

The bullets coming in are not hollow boards and the 17 bullet weighed in at about 14kg. These boards should be here with in 2 weeks!! And there are not heaps coming in so if any one wants one then they should get in now otherwise I think you will miss out.

Don't know if you have any links to this company and would understand they wouldn't be keen to give any construction secrets away but as a back yard board builder am interested how they can make hollow boards vacuum bagged. Bagging I have seen and done is over a bank with the idea to reduce resin to glass ratios and a better layup (less weight). Would be keen to know how they get it hollow ( dissolve blank?) most hollow surf craft I know of are made in a mould, Any more thoughts on the different you perceive between hollow and foam core boards would be interesting

I'm not doing the Molokai this year unforuntaly but i have heaps of other stuff on the go and i am planning to do Molokai next year for sure!!!! I have got a new board in the pipe line but thats about all i can say on that for now!!

So stoked to be doing what i'm doing right now that even missing out on hawaii does not seem like to big of a deal!!! Super stoked for all the Aussies going over and hope they do really well, i think it will be a good turn out from the Aussie this year and i'm hoping next year will be even bigger!!!

I am booking plane tickets today for Europe so that should cheer me up anyway!!
