Im keen to hear some feedback on the 8'2 x 32 Starboard Wide Point from others as Ive been finding this board really is suitable to the set ups along the East coast of Oz , & I've been getting some fun knee high sessions on it as well as some more solid days .
Hope to hear from others on their opinion is the true essence of a forum

Hi, I have had this board since about december I think and have taken it out in all sorts of conditions down here in SA. I think its a super fun board and I havent seen many reviews for it. It really comes in handy on the days when its choppy/windy as its super stable and was a great transition from my old 10 footer. Ive had it out in cross/onshore winds up to 20kts and had no problems balancing, just staying in the same spot was tricky.

I have the carbon model and find that its super fast and easy to throw around and get it sliding even on smaller mushier waves (very typical down here). When you take a step back its really easy to whip out the turns, I was wondering if this is to do with how refined the tail is? I also put a full deck pad on mine which gives me a bit more confidence when im trying to throw it around. My only concern was how well it would hold up with some super hollow waves but that picture of yours looks pretty sweet and looks like its holding well. I felt like I was gonna slide out on some of my bigger waves but thats more than likely my (lack of) skill. As I said though I thinks its an awesome board and would love to hear some other people opinions. I often wonder how it would go as a 2+1, I think it would track a bit better when paddling and have a bit more hold, but thats a bit of a guess. I would like to get one of the pro models to compare, I would love to hear of any comparisons.

I ride a starboard 8.5 pro and 8.2 by 32 is one board that you should have in your quiver esxpecilly in those shories or when it starts to get choppy which is common in the summer love those Noreasters.

No it's not photoshopped at all..
I've been playing with the GoPro mounted on my paddle for a couple of years now & have managed to be able to capture some great shots from a real nice perspective..
The 8'2 x 32 is certainly a board so well suited to conditions here in Oz & where SUP paddlers in the waves are headed ..
Stoked to hear some good points so far & keen to hear more if there is crew out there riding the 8'2 x 32 Widepoint ..

Pete how does the 8'2 x 32 go for the choppy onshore stuff versus the 2012 pocket rocket ...2010 8'5 pro x29.5 was my go to board for the small stuff ..i really like it ..pocket rocket good too for the choppy stuff stability but also good for the fat stuff ..just wondered how the 8'2 x 32 compares to these two boards - what is its niche - the 8'2 wp certainly doesnt seem to be holding you back :)

Hard to know why there would be a separate section for "board talk & reviews" really.
Dont think the longboarders have a separate section
Suspect the shortboarders don't ...but have never looked

Maybe the sup forum would be livelier if all were mixed up together

But as someone from the longboard forum commented "the 666 forum is all event announcements"....wouldn't it be better if event announcements had their own section?

I love my pocket rocket but would love to try the 8'2 widepoint .... anyone able to give a bit of a comparison? How does the glide on the wide point match up against the widepoint. I wonder whether the shorter length means you have to sit in with the shortboarders for a steeper take off.

Tried this board once, and was pleasantly surprised. It has much more refined rails and general shape than the other starboards I have seen (but we do not see a lot around there). Good glide, early entry in the wave, very easy to ride. Seems a good "all around" "no surprise" design, for people having the paddling technique to use a 8'2". It is not as stable as its width suggest, though, so try before you buy if you are not used to boards this size.

Ive been wearing this hoodie option in both cold & hot weather now for about 2 years maybe a touch more , in this shot its actually over my wetsuit as i find its good to slip the hoodie on when im out the back waiting as it keeps the cold wind off my head & stops it nailing my ears..

I find layering up means that you don't need a super thick wettie ..

In the summer/hot months these hoodies are the perfect solution for SUPers as you get all the protection you need , with the loose fit .

I think it was you I met at Stockton a couple of months ago after a paddle in the little closeouts with my widepoint. We had a chat in the carpark near the war memorial.

Been out with it quite a few times since then whenever its a bit small for a shortboard. Heaps of fun in waist high waves. Amazing how much it surfs like a shortboard. Its like being on my 6'6 exept I've shrunk to 2 foot tall.

I took it out one day when it was head high, 3 to 4 ft. Board was exellent but I found that whenever I stuffed up and crashed I wore it every time in the whitewater. Thing belted the sh!t out of me. Obviously a skill error on my part.

I've set it up as a quad now and it seems to suit the way I ride it better. I was having a bit of trouble getting it to hold its line on the wave face and the quad arrangement seems to make it easier to bury the rail a bit. Might have tightened it up a bit in turns though.

Just got back to Newy today and there's not much swell so Newy beach should be good for a paddle on the weekend

Scored some fun ones actually today at Stocko so if you are around come over this way for a paddle.. Private message me & Ill give you my mobile number so we can hook up & hopefully help you improve technique in the white water to get out of the way of your board :)
