Bugger,
No SUP or any other activity for 6 weeks, double Hernia Op happening on Tuesday, max weight 5kg lifted after 2 weeks. It had better be flat and raining until 4th January, lol

Yep, you'll be fine Dave.
Just make sure you've got a good supply of surfing vids on high rotation, and you'll be sorted!

Oh I like that idea, my main worry would be coming off at speed.

Hey Dave, I had an inguinal and femoral hernia op several years ago, it was open surgery not keyhole ( greater success with open ) anyway advice is don't push it or you'll be back doing it all over again. I was off work for 4 weeks ( depends what you do ) and out of water for 6-8 from memory, though the last couple of years has thrown my whole memorator out.

Thanks for the heads up, I was told do nothing at all for 6 weeks and will have to do that, I don't want to go early and stuff up all the work that will be done.

I had the op about 8 years ago (double). Didn't do anything for 6 weeks so good recovery. But on the seventh week I was coaxed into a downwinder. After not being on a board for so long and then to be out in the ocean was a wakeup. Hernia op held up well even after climbing back on my board 100 times. Take it easy at first.

Hi Dave,
Had mine hernia's done at 44 (left) & 50 (right). I know the later one took twice as long to recover (about 6 weeks) than the first one. Be mindful of the internal stiches as well & don't raise your hands above your head for a while.
Oh, and if you get the urge to sneeze post op, push down on bit between your nose & top lift. A lovely nurse told me that (after I had sneezed ).
