i've been on a lot of boards around the 8'6 to 8'10 mark. i consider the 8'10 gerry lopez sweetie pie the most stable board i've ridden at around that size.

you don't need a certain fin to help with stability on this board which eliminates one factor when setting up a fin system to suit your needs.

it goes pretty good too and is well worth considering in the sub 9' category

i haven't been on the 8'9 wr. i used to have a comp lite 8'9 ripper, liked that. i got a bamboo second hand 8'9 ripper. now not sup surfing as much as i used to, i found it hard work, very small sweet spot and didn't like chop. the 8'9 ripper is a beautiful shape thou.
the other psh's 8'9 wr and the 8'6 are to wide for my liking.

the sweetie pie is 28.5" wide and has that nice outline and goes just a bit behind the 8'9 ripper, but the 8'9 ripper is not in the same ballpark stability wise. the sweetie pie is great design to get that amount of stability out of a 8'10 with 115 l volume

weights are about the same i would think.

i lot of people i know around the alley area have moved away from the extreme, just there volume and stability type thinking. it's just a pain in the ass and in the end it starts to take away the fun factor

Hmmmmm - gotta disagree on this one LL. You have to admit that the suplove 8.10 was way more stable ? And, also the 8.10 starboard, and the 8.5 Starboard, and the 8.6 PSH wide ripper, and the 8.6 Laguna tuflite, and come to mention it probably also the 8ft C4 Isup as well - phew that about covers it I think. But apart from all those others I definately agree its the most stable sup in that size range for sure

Well, it depends what he meeans by size. I think most of those boards you mention would have afair bit more volume. Disclaimer: I just bought a sweetie pie as well. Picked up a bargain from Scotty at Greenline as well . Here's some pics. Pretty big single concave through the centre probably gives it the stability. Runs into a double concave through the fins.

Bill, you forgot to mention the Magic Carpet 8'6 (Luke Egan design) .... now there is a sweet board for the 90 kg and above.

Better than the 8'9 PSH WR for stability and allround performance IMHO.
