Anyone surfed all 3 of these? I'm pretty sure you have Rick. Looking to buy a fun 9 footer with an emphasis on nose riding and stability to make it rideable in windy chop. I'm thinking the revolution 9' by 30" but interested in others opinions.
Hi Mick
some numbers:
Style Options
9'6 x 27.6 at 112 L
9'6 x 29 at 118 L (XL)
Revolution
9' x 30 at 127 L
9' x 32 at 138 L
Steeze
8'6 x 29.5 at 116 L
8'10 x 30 at 126 L
9'2 x 30.5 at 136 L
Yes I have ridden all three boards, but I just got the Revolution and have only had one session in crappy little waves.
I had asked for a 10' x 30 because I was looking for the longboard experience.
For some reason I was sent a 9' x 32, which looks more like a fun shape than a longboard.
The nose is very wide but the rails and tail are super refined and more like a surfboard than a SUP. Because mine is 32" wide, it is super stable, even with the very thin rails.
It is pretty snappy and fast but I really didn't get any opportunity to nose ride the slop I was riding.
The Style nose rides so well it is like cheating.. But it's a narrow board and not what I would call stable. unless you get the wider XL version.
I imaging on the XL you could live permanently on the nose.
The Style also surfs very well off the tail and handles some size.
The Steeze I have is 9'6 x 31 at 144 liters and is defiantly more of a "Fun shape" than longboard. It nose rides ok and is fun to surf. I have ridden the 8'10 x 30 Steeze and it felt much more like a performance board and seemed better on the nose than the 9'6.
I think a head to head session on the 9' x 30 Revolution and the 8'10 Steeze would be interesting. My feelings is the Revolution would be faster and more agile. I really can't comment on how the Revolution is on the nose.. Until I have more time on it. I have so many boards to ride and have been focusing more on my new short SUPs.
I wish I could be more help on the Revolution.
I'll post a video when my rib heals and I get back on the water.
Bottom Line:
My gut says get the Revolution because James Casey spent some time working with Bert and Marcus on this design and from the little session I had on it, seems like it is a winner.
