Just what people are using quad or a thruster set up on this board ?

I'm using it as thruster, tried it once as a quad - wasn't bad as a quad, but I'd have to try different fins.

Biggest improvement is to get FCS US box adaptor and putting in a equal sized set of fins - std center fin is a little too big imo - I use AM2's.

I've got a 9'0 & use the Kelly Slater K2 quad & a nubster in the center. Love this setup!

These boards ie 9 and 8 5 must be among the most popular and best all round performing boards for the surf in most levels of surf out there.

I now have a 9 and 8 5 and love them but keen to know recommendations on fins so please respond as there are many of you out there.

Thanks

I'm using the Jackson Close thruster setup on my 9'5 Hokua and its great, the centre fin being smaller than the side fins makes it a bit more unstable but on the 9' 5" that's not a big issue for me though on a circa 8' board it could be an issue so try it out first IMO.

Hi ,

I ride the hokua 9 as a thruster with the std naish wood grain sides , and a fcs 3d red tip
(standard size) in a longboard box adapter for the centre.
Have tried it as a quad with carbon stealths and it felt really bad.
I went to the naish shop in Hawaii and was told to only ride it as a thruster and that's what the shaper also said .
Now I can turn quicker , slide the tail and the 3 d gives heaps of hold in the foam when coming back down the face.
I have a lot of different fins but I don't feal any need to change, it's the perfect setup or me in knee high to overhead.

Cheers
