Pretty much a beginner here, I'm a bit on the wrong side of 80kg and live near the ocean.

I've rented boards a few times and was surprised to find a 12'6 ace-tec easier than a "beginners" board they gave me first few times. Easier because it is faster, you can paddle the same side more than once without the nose turning, it had more floatation, etc. I just felt much happier on it.

So I want my own board and plan to mainly use it on days like today coastal water calm ocean just for fitness and fun. Bonus if I can carry it down to the water.. the 12'6 seemed a bit too heavy

The question is - for a $700 budget would a 10'6 ace-tec SUP be about right for me, as that is what I can find second hand at the moment.
I'm not confident enough to surf with it I'll be happy if I use it now and again for a year. The 10'6 is 12kg. The 12'6 is >15kg and more awkward..

thanks
