Ok

A little taste of my first go with this board
90kg plus wetsuit intermediate been playing on a 10 x32 deep cruiser

Straight to the jp 8,10 x30 126 litres

Surf 1 to 1 and a half ft med chop a little side current
Managed to stay upright 50 percent of the time paddle over the wash ok most of the time .
Stability wise not to bad coming of a 10 x32 deep cruiser
A cleaner day and I think I would in joy the board more first up but pretty happy considering the drop in size .
Paddling for a wave was ok board tracked good and had ok glide but was loosing the sweet spot easily when rushing for the wave .
I only cought one wave and I made a hash of that but due to the board change and not use to how it wants to behave.
For my weight and ability it's the shortest board I will ride no doubt, and if I did change boards it would only be due to the fact I get chop more times than not and may go for a little more stability not because of the board but consistent chop

But in saying that it's only the first time out on this jp I'm sure a few more hours on the water it should prove to be more stable
Anyway that's from a fist surf coming off a 10 x32 barge
Will update after more time on the water .

Thanks for the report! It will be interesting to see how you go after a few more sessions.

I can be a bit frustrating when you start on a new board - you wonder why you are flubbing around when you know you could be on a more stable board - but when you get the board to do what it was designed for you know it is all worth it.

Wow... that's pretty impressive!

That's a big drop.... I'd be stoked with that success.
Like CSE said.... it will become easier, and the payoff is big!

Hey Foamy,

I went from a 10"2' X 32 @ 170 L to a 8"4' X30.5 @ about 130L.

Was a struggle for sure and still takes a glassy day to relax while loitering out the back

Miss that easy glide but loved the performance on the wave.

Has it been worth it? Well yeah and no. Have lost that easy cruise, high wave count that was what I think I like about stand up, but gained as I say, performance on the wave.

I recon some thing in between for my 90kegs would be the ducks but the big question is what? There is so much choice out there.....

Bob a job

Yes that is where I am at with the same thought
I just went out for my second session 2 hours clean 1 to 1.5 ft
Had a ball of a time stayed upright 95 percent of the time
Cought 9 decent waves .
Board turns off the bottom like a rocketship but off the top I felt it was a bit sticky but this is just me trying to find the tail pad .
With more time on this board I should be OK in med chop
My second session has given me a big stoke factor and reAly injoyed the jp surf.
But yes just a little more stability would be perfect just for the day where is cleanish but a bit of wind chop.
Again this will be a non factor I feel once I get more hours on the board
If I was to get a custom it would be based on this board but 30.5 wide and a little more width in the tail .
Mind you I did still fall in but I was buggered as this was my second session and coming off the table 10 x32 144l
As for a one board quiver for a intermediate at 90 to 93 kg
Almost but not quite there but dam close to it.

Another 3 hour session today a little chop but handled it ok well a lot better than the first day in similar conditions

Got a couple of good waves not big but good, board Flys better today more conscious of my back foot and was going top to bottom much better .
Only issues I have and this is due to a new board I guess is nose pealing going for a wave even in surf stance it's still a little bit of a issue .
The sweet spot is quite small but ok
But I find you can't deviate from the sweet spot much at all going for a wave but in surf stance I find i have to time it just right too early nose pearl too late in surf stance loss of ballance

But all in all another session done and dusted

Well done - I guess there is no 1 board for all conditions so you need to prioritise what's important...chilling out back or performance on the wave...the only other option is investing in another board

Pretty much first rule of a new sup is if it comes with composite plastic fins is to get rid of them and put some good quality fins in. Im running pc 7s all around. piros fins or jc's are great options too.

Please take no notice of my comments regarding this 2016 jp surf as it turns out its a 2015

Same graphics but different nose and tail also less litres than the 2016
I ordered a 2016 but shop provided this and as I knew it I was riding a 2016 but no...

Apart from the new 2016 that has a more pulled in nose and tail the 2016 is now 128 litres vs the 2015 at 126 litres

Completely different boards
All they had I'm told oh ok I ordered a holden but all they had was a Toyota so here you go

Come on... what is the world coming too

Never make a order over the phone and trust your local dealer is the moral of the story.
Apparently if you don't write it down for the they don't listen

No .. they say I have no proof I ordered a 2016 so suck it up

Idiots
Petty for them as my wife and I were about to go in on the weekend and get two flat water boards
I questioned why I have a 2015 vs the 16 which I ordered response was that's all they had now that is admitting the dealer is in the idiot circle right there

Yep well that's a bad shop right there all right. "Sorry you got a V1 but we didn't have any V2s in stock".

That's right I'm told I never emailed the order , I did however order on the phone as it's local

Now how many people go to a shop and say oh I like that set up get a deal sorted and agree to purchase but instead to paying right there and take the goods
Then say oh I will just go home and email this to you so you don't screw it up .

Not quite V2 was in Stock and V2 was ordered by myself but shop at the other end Sent old version
OK might have been a mistake sure but just because I did not write down on paper and sticky tape it to the local dealers for head they have found a small loop hole
I do however have evidence they are fabricating stories and I can take further action but to be honest I have a bad taste in my mouth and wish to have nothing to do with the store any further or the supplier that Sent the jp between them both I smell bull ****
