Hey guys, thinking of getting a 10.4 X 34 booster from blue planet to play in the surf and cruise in open water (not just glassy conditions). Must say, the boards are stunning to look at and their website and videos are extremely informative.
But when I talk to sup shops in Australia they are very dismissive of the brand in general or just don't know of it and say it's probably cheaply made. That said, on this forum - all I've seen is rave reviews of the blue planet boards - the latest thread being back in 2015.
As a 6ft 100kg guy I want to make sure I'm buying a brand that is a) going to do the job and b) well built with quality materials.

whats peoples opinion?

All board brand can't escape the feedbacks (!?).
I don't have experience with blueplanet surf sup or any surf sup though from what hear and see/tested some of their boards = it's thumbs up for me!

we supply some of the cloths that Blue Planet uses, which are Australian made. so even though the boards are made overseas some of the cloth is made here! I know they go to the factory a lot to check on production

I've only seen a couple of them here on the Sunny Coast, but they did look good... I reckon yes, they'll do the job and yes, they are well made. That said, 34 may be a bit too wide, IMHO. They have some good 32 wide options that would still be super stable, and better for both flat and the waves.
If you are talking to retailers, talk to the stockists listed on the website. Joints like Stonker know what they are doing.
Just my two cents.

I hired two blue planet sups when in Hawaii last year. I tried the 8'8 all good and the 9'4 fun stick. Both were very light boards which was a god send as it was a long walk back to our hotel then having to get them in the lift and up to our rooms. Needless to say they got the odd 'knock".
Overall impressions were that they were nice boards and well made. Iam 98kegs and found both boards very stable, the all good was my favourite although I spent a fair bit of time on the fun stick as it was incredibly windy most days.
My intention was to buy one and bring it back to Aus on my return, but didnt.
I have since bought a 9'1 hokua which I personally have found to be a much better board, however my board seems to be the 'friday' model with a poor paint job. Very brittle and the rails are full of chips even with rail tape, unlike any board I have had previously.
So my wrap...just not a big name here in Oz... try them if you like the board go for it.

I have a BP and a couple of mates also have one. All had them about 18 months. No problems with any of them.
Surf really well and construction is really good. The handle is also awesome.

Robert at Blue Planet is a very knowledgable and humble contributor (and site sponsor) on the Standup Zone.
The feedback on his threads is always super positive about both his boards and service.
He is the goto SUP rental spot for many visiting Zoners, and they speak in glowing terms, after their visits to his shop.

I'd say his boards and service are a solid choice.

Can't say a bad word about them, well made, well designed durable boards, I'm looking at the 12'6 bump surfer to add to the collection. Can't go wrong IMHO.

Hey Bloater, Try the Turbo or even the Funstick if you can before buying the Booster. Depending on your skill level you may be ok on the smaller boards. That being said, if you are spending more time on flat water you would be better off with the Booster.
