I tried van der wall on the nose of one of my SUPs.... I prefer the hexatraction...

no mentions of Viskus

Vidkus is only rated for like 20 sessions, which makes it a nope for me. Did Van Der Wall actually ever come to market?

There are plenty of other options: versatraction, clear grip, ... even the anti-slip tapes for bath tubs

And anti-slip paints like the monster paint, which is the cheapest solution if you must do a lot of boards (good for renters)

Even Van der Waal has 3 different grips: the first one which was not grippy enough, the new one (2.0) with is quite abrasive, and a future one which should be in beetween, and lighter.

I have used lots of these solutions, and I must say the hexatraction has found the sweet spot for efficiency, ease of use, looks, and safety. But depending on your requirements (such as the price), some solutions may be better for you.

I even mixed hexatraction and Van der Waal 2.0 on my 2 last boards: an inner triangle of VdWaal followed by hextraction, feeling the 2 different surfaces underfoot helps with positioning. Too bad the hexes are not of the same size.

going to give Visku a shot. Figure I only need it where i mostly stand to paddle. That is the only place my wax wont stay.
So just cut it up and 4 sheets will hopefully last long enough so it is cheap.

so the van der wall 2 is now as expensive as hexatraction...and lasts a year?

In the front part of a SUP, I guess it will outlive the board. I didn't see yet any signs of wear on mine.

If you use hexatraction everywhere, I guess it could wear out a bit just under your feet in paddling position (or under your chest for prone surfing). But it would then be easy to only change the worn hexes: unlike pads, they can be removed easily and without any glue residue on the board.

I guess it is the same for Van der Waal: the people making it are surfers, not SUPers, so I guess the ones under the chest get worn more than the ones on the front of a SUP. Also, as your body is lifted by the water, prone surfers often feel these grips do not maintain well the contact with the board, unlike the modern waxes that are very sticky and provide grip even if you do not apply lots of pressure on it. And this may explain why VdW team went with a grip so aggressive.
