Naish x32? At 88kg and then a full wetsuit I'm worried about the correct board I want a x32 but which size 8'3 is what I'm thinking but maybe 8'8 Been riding one yr , competent int surfer , my main concern is stability but more standing out the back in the line up I want no real issues just hanging about. As the new naish boards are not far away, I would appreciate the advice

Sorry! Moved this post to here I think it's correct

I'd recommend the 8'8'' at your weight if you're after more stability..

I'm 95kg and actually find my 9'1''x32 a little tippy in rough water..

Even though it's 32'' wide the very pointy nose and extreme rocker takes stability away from this wide board.

Hi,

most of the time fairly clean but can go days with chop and side current etc
David john, thanks for that, the 9'1 would also be great, But I presume with myself at a max of 91kg..kg WET the 9'1 maybe just a bit big ?

So that takes out the 8'3 of the line

Probably best on the 8'8" to start and drop down next year to the 8'3"' you will have a LOT more fun and enjoy the board more. I hear the 8'8" is super looses and great fun like my 8'3"

Rossall

You mention your 8'3 ? At my weight I am sure a 8'3 would prove hard work, I guess I could use the 8'3 But would it not be a handful 95 percent of the time standing about waiting in the line up? VS the 8'8

This is my way of thinking anyway

Do you have any opportunity to demo the different sizes? Because....just to add a different perspective.... I demo'ed the 7'10" X32 when I was nudging the scales at a bit over 89 kegs (I'm well under 80 now and loving it) and found it to be pretty stable and user friendly in beach break conditions. The width certainly gives you that stability. So I would suggest you try to get hold of a demo of the 8'3" and the 8'8" if this is possible and see which is best for you.

I'm 100kg, had the 9'1" and found it super stable. I've ridden the 8'3" and had no prob with that either. You really need to try both the 8'8 and 8'3. The 9'1" would definitely be too big

Wavesareus, it really boils down to your skill and experience. As Spec'd the 8'3 will do the job nicely.
There is however, nothing worse than going down in size too quickly. It is a complete waste of money and our well earned time on the water.
If you are unsure go with the more stable board that will give you more time on the water, in all conditions, catching more waves.
These are great boards and I am sure the step down to any X32 will put a smile on your face!

m8 I'm 95kg in the nick, 190cm and I ride the 7'10x32. in clean conditions i can stand without a blade in the water. in junk i might fall in hear and there but it has ample stability.

dont get hung up on volume. at 32 wide i think they should drop some thickness.. but thats just my thoughts.

for you i definately would not go over the 8'3.

Thanks for the replies, Hard choices these boards I'm tempted at the 8'3 as AA mentioned its a good size choice as we'll

my my last board was 9'6 x291/2 150L But the naish is a different beast at 32 wide Thats a drop of almost 20L but stability is in the width? Not the litres

And as per specs the 8'3 has plenty for my total of aprox 91kg but will it ?... In all conditions lets just say adverse beach breaks , wind side chop you know the days I mean

Wavesareus, this is the key piece to the puzzle. If you are comfortable on 29 1/2 inches (x 4 1/2 thickness, at a guess) I believe the 32" of the X32 is a walk on the sidewalk.
There will be some loss of fore/aft stabilty but the main standing area (32" by almost 5") easily makes up for this.
You will loose a bit of glide into the waver by dropping 15" in length but you soon adapt to this and the joy of this board on a wave is what it is all about.

Or is this size at 8'3 comfortable sitting out back in rough conditions vs the longer 8'8

Thank you for your answers

The only a swear I really need or recomendation is ... Will the 8'3 be stable standing out the back in chop or just as stable as the 8'8

im thinking even though the 8'3 is a good board for my weight etc , the 8'8 seems like it will be just better because of the extra length !

the extra length will allow me to relax much more out the back waiting for waves, especially in choppy conditions

Or is the opinion the two sizes dont have theat much of a difference

I have the 8'8" am 85kg and am comfortable out back. Was in same delima as you but am happy with my choice. I'm 62 yrs old 52 yrs surfing and advance intermediate sup. I can handle pretty good chop and current and not have to constantly work out back. You have to move around on this board to make it work. You can't be lazy about it. Because of the length of board you can't reach tail pad with out moving around. This board is diffently stepping up my game. I've had other 32" wide that didn't work for me but this one does. The 8'3" would be doable but do you want to work that hard that would be for you to awnser.

Hi

Yes I think you nailed it on the head, even though the smaller board is doable no issue there, The big difference as you say is the 8'8 is that much more relaxed out the back in chop.

just that little bit longer will allow me to stand about with a lot less wobble

I hope I'm not going round in circles here, Forgive me if I am

I'm sure 8'8 will be the one , just and surf able as the shorter board but a bit more user friendly out the back, I.e not having to work and battle the balance all the time "so much"

Yes the 8'3" is stable enough to stand out back, here in WA we often get chop but the 8'3" will handle it.

The 8'10" is a different board altogether a lot less nose rocker and a lot more volume.

I agree, but I have to add its a lot more work out back vs that extra bit of length ???
