Hi,
I'm looking for an inflatable SUP to use while im up at work, now that ive got a permanent room next to the creek and ocean. it gets very windy here in summer so will be looking to hopefully try and catch a few small bumps in the 1-ft waves, winter is glorious so will be doing some extended paddling sessions here down the coast line.

I've got my eye on either the Naish1 12'6 or the Starboard Astro touring 12'6 - can anyone offer some advice / views on these boards. Also a paddle, im not bringing my QB V drive over here, but im not sure on adjustable paddles, ive used one before and felt it had to much flex for me,
I hover around the 100kg weight.

Forget the Naish and Starboard 12'6s, they're great for lighter folk but at 100kg go straight out and get a RED Race 12'6 x 30*.

At your weight you will find the RED waaaay stiffer and more stable than the current offerings from Starboard or Naish, (or Fanatic) - the RED's drop stitch is denser, skins are thicker and the RSS batten system in the rails contributes hugely to stiffness and stability through the standing area. You pay a couple of kg weight penalty for the sturdy construction but that's forgotten once you're on the water. Also with the RED you have a US-compatible fin box so you're not locked into the maker-supplied fin.

ULI comes close for stiffness but IMO isn't quite there and you don't get the fin options.

Are these available in Australia and if so where? - never heard of them

I also hover around the 100kgs.. (about 96kg right now) and I looked for quite a while before deciding on this one..

Not because it's yellow.. but because of the added width for stiffness and stability..

I bought it for teaching friends (no more paddle wacks) and for a bit of whitewater stuff.. and maybe even a river adventure with camping gear..

I'm very happy with it..

1) think the reds are out of my budget
2) DJ i watched that vid when you first uploaded it - love it but i think maybe out of my budget also though im not sure of its cost (i have a gx glide, wife has a 10'6 alana and daughter just got a 6'6 keike) so we are Naish fans in our house.
3) ive paddled the Naish1 recently so have a feeling for it
4) the guy i buy our boards from has also today suggested a fanatic air race, i can get for good price as he got sent too many so is willing to provide cheaper to me (must be a good customer)
5)should have mentioned earlier budget is around $1500 for board, dont want to spend anymore really and i can get the Naish1, air race and astro tourer for that or less.
6) have been losing weight for a while now and goal is to be around the 92kg mark.

I will be lending the air race to see how i go on it next week but at 26.25" will it be too tippy? my balance is pretty good but could volume be an issue for me on the air race?

Just to clear up any misunderstandings, the Starboard Astro Touring from 2015 model onwards features a US-compatible fin box. You are not limited to maker supplied fins. I'm using an FCS fin in mine. I think the 2015 models are much stiffer than previous versions. The 2015 is 31" wide, which will likely make it that little bit more suitable for what you have in mind.

I think Red Paddle dropped the 12'6 x 30" from their range this year and replaced it with a 28" wide model. Here's a short video link re the Starboard. I believe that they will be producing a deluxe version of the 12'6 touring as well as the zen version. Should be out later in the year.

ah...so at least one of them's starting to catch up

Not sure about catching up, maybe you haven't tried anything else for a while.
I have a 125kg friend on a Fanatic and multiple customers over 100kg on the Starboards. All happy.
