Ok so I'm progressing from a halo (surfboard warehouse) 10ft 6 but only 30.5 wide. Looking at ECS wideboy 9 ft 6, starboard junior whopper 9ft 6, starboard hypernut 9ft 6 or fanatic allwave I'm 92 kgs, 6ft 2 and surfing in Newcastle and advanced beginner level. Cheers!

I went from 10'6" Sunnyking to a 8'10" Sunova Speeed 130 litre x 29" wide with C Drive fins
88 Kgs on 6'2"
Could not be happier

Somedays which are choppy see me maybe wishing for a little more stability but I find if i hang in there it recovers well - more of stabilty issue for me rather than a board issue

The ECS Wideboy is a seriously good value board that will handle most conditions, super stable, paddles well, surfs even better, the construction is toughs nails and its light considering its not carbon.

Only reason I am not riding mine at the moment is I am experimenting with a shorter SUP, have ridden a few SUP's in the last couple of years and the Wideboy is a firm favourite - just ticks all the boxes and priced really well.

Out of those boards.. and at your weight.. I'd recommend the Starboard junior whopper 9ft 6 for sure.

If you are looking to progress to a shorter surf style SUP rather than a long board style then I would be going smaller than 9 6. You would not struggle overly on a 140l board like an 8 8 JP Surfwide or the ecs or fanatic equivalent. Stepping right down to a 130L board may likely be too big a jump right now.
But it won't take too long. My advice is your next board will probably still be an interim board so don't go all out on the spend.

Your next board after this one in the 130l range will be a the longer term one.

Im slightly heavier and taller than you and progressed through a similar path over a 12 month period

Something like a Sunova Steeze or JL Striker would be ideal.
