I own a 10,9'2 and now this sucker! I was most currently riding a 9x29 hipster twin. Which I friggin love, it really helped me learn top and bottom turns. So naturally I wanted to bring it out more in my surfing on bigger days. I asked Scott to knock me up a 8'5 x 30 120L twin fin as a performance based step down while still retaining some length.

It is a bloody weapon and I would highly recommend anyone to try one out. They are such an easy yet fun board to ride. I need to test it out with my C drive twin set asap

What do you like about them (apart from their very cool looks)? What sets them apart? I have zero experience with twin-fins or boards with that tail shape.

I have been riding the hipster 8'3" 123L for a couple of months. Previously surfing an 8'9" thruster set-up and back foot heavy, it took me 3 surfs to begin to understand the new feel. Someone mentioned to me that you 'guide' the twinnie, which was a game changer. Super easy to pop the fins on top turns and to pull floaters. The hipster just seems to recover from situations where I would normally get caught up or stall, and feels like it wants to be surfed more vertical to me. Engaging the rail sends you into a fast drive or swift change in direction unlike any of my previous boards. I have just got hold of cdrive twinnies + stabiliser and looking forward to trying them out. Love the original fins though.

I learned not to put my back foot past the leading edge of the fins. But the acceleration coming out of turns is unmatched.

Have been able to take off a little later and make sections that I wouldn't have on another board.

Unfortunately for me the only time I break my fins loose is when I have taken serious gas and am gonna go for a swim!

Another characteristic is the love of the old skuhle high line and be able to go really fast..

Can I ask what you have ridden before in comparison? And would you tell me your weight and the board size you are now riding? (I am 100 kg)

I have ridden Acids and Placid - I would love to know how it compares to the Placid.

I'm 5'10 100kgs And ride the stock 7'10 no worries .

2yrs riding the 7'10 twinny and no plans to replace as still perfect for WA and me. Only very minor transit dings and I'm not traditionally gentle on boards. 1 board does it all for me.

Had it out in some really full but decent size surf today, the hipster is so easy to get onto waves and I've discovered how easy it is to slide the fins out on the top turn. I never had that feeling on my longboard. Love the twins for there drivey snappy turns. Love that feeling.

The balance is no issues at all being 8'5 x 30 such a natural progression to step down to.

I sit around 95-98kg most of the time the boards 120l and weighs a touch over 7kg.

That's 1.2 and you find stable . Sounds good.

I have an 83L flow which is at about 1.38 (60kg) but I do find it unstable out the back . Was thinking of the smallest SMIK (7'8 by 28) which is similar length to flow but with more inbuilt stability . At 7'8 I should be able to get my foot back to the kicker ok . It sounds like the Hipster turns quite well

One challenge with these discussions is you never know if a guy is a newbie and would struggle with a ratio of 1.5 or a young champion who would be OK with 0.95 (or whatever those guys with submersible SUPs ride).

Slugga is a very good surfer - I believe he still competes. It is a very good sign that he can ride a 7'10 board, and it says a lot about the design - but it also says a lot about slugga.

We need a rating system when people give advice. At one end of the scale is the newbie, and at the other end is the circus freak.

Yes, the paddle is made for surfing also it's the third one on a SUP TWIN, kind of 3D fin and that is the real surfing innovation

I have 7'10 Hypster Transformer. Fine for wingding and sup foiling but at 95 Kg I can only sup surf it in smooth conditions. I find my 7'4" Hypernut easier to sup surf on which I can manage in bumping choppy stuff.
