Hi
Im getting myself a SUP for xmas, what board would you recommend for 6ft 2" 77kg. I live in Manly Brisbane so mainly harbour/calm waters. I was hoping I could get a board my daughter (15kg) could also come with.
I was hoping to spend around $1200 including paddle.
Should I consider inflatable or wouldnt my budget allow.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
Adam

If $1200 total for board and paddle is ur limit Halo would be the pick if you want to take a child on it also. 10ft or 11ft

If you can spend more like $1200/$1400 then another couple hundred for a paddle. Go check out the local shops in brissy for example briskites has some good xmas deals on some good brand boards. It pays to go into the stores and talk and see what stock they have as websites dont show all stock.
You may be able to pick up a 2014/2015 board brand new for a bargin price.

You should concider an inflatable.. but I would recomend a hard board..

Also you should concider a big brand board second hand rather than a cheap no name brand of board..

You should also remember the paddle is a very important part of paddling and I would often recomend to people that they buy the best paddle they can afford.. and buy a board with what money is left.. Most people do it the other way around..

IMO you should be looking for something at least about 10' long and more importantly at least about 32" wide.. When choosing between boards that are either a little too big.. air a little too small.. always take the little too big option.. If you were in Melbourne you could buy a board like my 9'8" x 34" Naish Odysseus for about $1,000 (second hand) and $200 would get you a pretty good paddle brand new..

See what your local shops have got second hand or as demo stock..

Thanks AndyR
I have phoned around this morning asking about older stock.
And one store (not sure if I am supposed to name them) had Fanatic 2014 fly pure 10 foot or Naish Nalu 116 sport with a carbon paddle for $1200. Which is in my budget.
Will have to research the boards.
But thanks for the tip.
