I just bought a used board Rogue PaddleBoards and the vent does not have a plug. They gave me dimension of the size screw to buy but it does not fit. Any help on where I can get a plug that fits my board would be great. Also what happens to the board if it gets wet surfing without the plug?

The vent plug stops water getting inside the board, so if you are out in the surf without a vent plug there is a very high possibility that water will get inside the board.

Have you contacted www.roguesup.com? Don't go in the water without it.

Yes I have talked to them which was a challenge all by itself. They told me they use a screw and gave me the size of it but the Lowes and Homedepot don't have anything that size. So I emailed them again and hope to hear something soon. I am asking they send me the missing piece. It is a used board but it one of their used boards so I would think they would come through.

Don't Panic! I used a bit of BluTac for 6 months and/or some Gaffer tape for two months and then I found the vent plug where I put it. Unless you are paddling fully submerged you won't get any water in your board. If Rogue don't come through measure the inside of the aperture (you're in the US so it will probably be 1/2, 1/4 or 3/8 ths and go to a Plumbing supply place or hardware store and describe what you want, they are called caps. Whoever Rogue are they should help you. They could just be a bunch of scallywags and rogues . BTW what's a Lowes and Home depot? We have Bunnings instead. They would have it .

That is a very dangerous advice: if the water is cooler than the air, putting the board in the water will create a depression that will suck through the vent with great strength, most probably bypassing the tape.

I would try windsurfing shops, their plug screw should be of the same dims.

Otherwise, I would just resin/glue a patch on top of the screw hole, protecting the hole hiself via masking tape.

I feel your pain...just finished a new 14' and put two vortex vent plugs in it I bought from fiberglass supply in the pacific north west USA. When I finished the board and went to put the plugs in (alien key head) it went in most of the way but the head stripped out. No way to remove it with the wrench, I had to cut it out. And no the were not cross threaded, and I had the exact size wrench....the plastic was so soft the plugs were made of, it was ridiculous.

I couldn't find suitable replacements either so I found some nylon/durlon transom plugs at West Marine with a hex head top and slotted screw. Since to was a gortex type vent and had to be flush or below deck I had to cut a bit off the length and remote the Hex head so it was round. Then drilled a 5/16" hole through it to allow the gortex to function. What a pain...it works perfect but could not believe that no shops carried them. I was lucky in that the plug had standard 1/2" NPT pipe thread. Good luck, if you can't buy it sometimes you have to get creative.

Note that this happened to me once: I put a sailboard on sale at a shop, they didnt sell it, but when I got it back, some a**h*le had stolen the screw while it was on display...

Rogue finally got back in touch with me and said that as soon as their shapers come back from the break they will get me the plug right away.
