Like several other posters, I am new to SUP and looking for a board that achieves a happy medium between value and quality. I have looked for a second hand board but I find most are for more experienced SUPers AND are too dear anyway. Some I like the sound of are Magoo, Blackhawk. I've tried a couple of used BICS - they didn't feel great but it may have been the conditions. I work and have a baby so I probably won't get too serious about it. I am looking to relax, get active and have a bit of fun on the weekends, mainly at Narrabeen Lake. I don't think I need a particularly high-performance board. I would like to spend about $900 including a paddle.
Also, any advice on the paddle?
Also, regarding size, I'm thinking a 10, 6 maybe an 11,6. I am skinny but my husband is 100kgs. Might even want to get the little guy on the front one day.

A friend just bought an SUPATX board and paddle package for a very good price after lots of looking around.. (similar size and price to what you're looking for)..

Might be worth checking out.. The 10'6" is better for you and for you to carry.. but the 11'6" would be better for your husband and especially if you want to paddle with your kid on board..

I can attest to the value of a Honu Sup..... they are being churned out on ebay, from Paddle Boards Direct. If you can score one for around $500... by continually bidding as they appear, you will get an adjustable paddle in the deal. They are pretty damn good for the full price too.. around $800... and although they are not cutting edge design.. still fairly solid and not the heaviest thing Ive ridden. Mind you... I tried to break the one I had by taking it out in far too big a surf...but it stood up okay. However, not recommended.
