Started out, just drinkin' beer...
turned into a discussion with FinsUp around the pros and cons of glide vs carveability and the best way forward for Top End waves.
This went on for weeks. And they turned into months.
"I need to speak to the Oracle", I told FinsUp.
He agreed - there was no other option. I was getting desperate and there was a real risk of losing momentum on the new board.
Turning into a state of wide-eyed incomprehension. Like a bunny in the headlights. Dilated pupils. The hangover without the party.
So, I crafted an email outlining the predicament and sent it to the Oracle (aka SuptheCreek).
"Dingoman", he said, "do what's right for the way YOU surf."
"But, what about the Placid?", I said,
"follow your guts", he said.
"The Skate?", I said.
"Only you know", he said.
"A custom One with quad options?"
"No," he said - "but only Bert can say whether that would work."
My favourite boards (when I surfed shortboards) always had channels. It's a no-brainer.
So I followed my guts and went hard.
And after a few weeks, it arrived.
The 9'4 Creek. So stoked.
