So, a couple more good sessions under my belt now and getting it all figured out! Step rails are really nice surfing it more forward when pumping for speed. They hold a nice high line and I'm finding its really only my my back foot I need to move to change from driving to turning.
There is still a fair but if volume on the stringer under the back foot which I've found really helps coming out of hard turns to get things moving back down the line quickly and for popping it up on to the lip. Could do with being thinned out a touch maybe in the very back to sink a little more in some situations but to be honest this one was never designed for bigger than head high anyway so fits the brief.
I'll add a centre plug for a thruster option soon and kicking myself for not doing it in the first place as I think it would add another radius for turning and keen to see how the rails work in a thruster configuration!
Still super stoked with it and the feel in particular is much more big surfboard than super stiff sandwich feel. Deck is holding up well, no sink and slightly thicker from pads definitely seem to have aided that without re moving too much feel.
If all goes well I have another board drawn up I'm aiming to get started on in a couple months time
