Hi guys,
If you were very new to the sport of SUP racing but had 30 years of racing Canoes, Kayaks and 10 years of racing Outriggers and now want to have a serious go at 14' SUP racing and be competitive , what would you buy, Naish Javelin or Glide or Fanatic Falcon or ???? What else is out there. ???

Belly, all of those are good. It's best to try before you buy and really see what suits your weight and conditions you paddle in. I've got a Falcon 27.5 for the ocean and a 25 for the flat water because I couldn't make up my mind. Also I'd be doing more swimming than paddling in serious ocean swell on the 25.
There is a lot of variety in race boards and no one particular board can be rated no1 at present.

Being at Lake Maquarie, WindSurfNSnow at Long Reef is worth a visit. Give Sam a ring. He's got lots of demo boards and his advice and experience is second to none. He will put you on the right board.

Thanks for that NNSUP, I will give Sam a visit before I make any decisions.
I might even wait for the 2014 boards to come out before laying out any cash.

Belly, if you're only interested in a 14' board, and therefore no BOP style racing, then the Starboard Ace is one you might want to consider too!
Very fast and lots of fun downwind and pretty good on flatwater too. Plenty of top results in races across the country over the last couple of years!

Sam will probably be able to help you out with a demo Ace too, or get in touch with Rod Hindson, who has the starboard demo trailer on the Central Coast. I think he's based near Killarney Vale so not too far south of you.
