Hi I need some NEW Board Surfing SUP advise
I used to Surf for 20 yrs then got a hip replacement 5 yrs ago.
I splashed out on a Coreban 10' 20kg monster 2 yrs ago , I love it buts its too rigid ... SO its now time to surf.

Can anyone recommend a SURFING SUP BD to suit Perths fat Reef breaks & Peaky short Beach breaks?( sometimes Yallingup Walls --- When surfing I used to surf 6'7" in these conditions for flotation))
I am being told NAISH 2014 range & Anything well constructed. ( STRONG not bamboo)

I am 95KG & 6 Ft tall - please advise.
Something to grow into for bottom turns , cut backs & off the lips etc...

Really would appreciate some advise.
Thanks Brunty
PS Price is not an issue as I have waited 2 years for this upgrade!!

carbon starboard widepoint 9' 5" x 32". You will be delighted by this weapon. loose light stable, what else could a man want in a SUP.

Hi Brunty,
I understand your dilemna and the great thing is the selection of suitable boards has never been so good! I went for the 2013 9'5" Widepoint in the red/wood but at the time if I had the cash (AND more importantly the permission from the Minister for War and Finance) it would have been the carbon version. Still a hot board though either way and its a keeper! You will love it more for down south than Perth too... I seem to be riding my Whopper in Perth more (and same thing, it's a keeper).

Cheers fellas!
I have been trialling a carbon 9'5" Naish & I found the demo Naish 9'5" carbon a little high in the water for me but buoyant enough for my 96KG (xmas pud included ! LOL).
The off shores are pretty strong in Perth so I was getting up on the nose split stance to duck it into the wave.
I think I will trial a normal board to see how that goes as I like to glide lower into the wave.
A mate Roger was riding a 10'6" 31"wide board that had some nice glide & looseness in the waves when I tried it.
I will keep searching for the elusive board for more loosness than the Coreban 10' 34" wide that has served me well thus far.

Hi Brunty, I'm assuming you have the EZ. Did you try to step down to the slightly narrower and more versatile Icon. At 10'x29.5" with options to mix the fins up a little bit it might be what you're looking for. I've had an Icon for a couple of years and love it's glide, and the difference it makes to swap out the centre fin for a set of quads is amazing. If Coreban has served you well thus far, it's worth a try.
Jason.
